    Strange drives in Win 10"\\? \Volume(xyz)" ?

    Hi, guys,

I have a computer with two hard drives:

    • C = 465GB Team Force Delta SSD (Windows 10)
    • D = 465GB External HDD
So far everything has always worked fine, but when I tried to install ACO on disk "D" a few minutes ago, the Epic Games Launcher opened an error log "IS FC05".

I followed the instructions IS-FC05: Couldn't verify hash serialization and checked the Windows 10 drive optimization, but without success. I was very surprised, because apart from my "C" drive I could see 4 strange volumes (see picture 1).

Out of curiosity, I opened the disk manager to see if the curious volumes are listed there, but this was not the case (Picture 2).

I would be very grateful if you could explain what the volumes are and how I can get rid of them and install my game on the "D" disk Strange drives in Win 10"\? \Volume(xyz)" ? ;)

Strange Volume on C drive in Disk Protection

    Brink,

I toggled the C drive on/off, the ? volume stayed.

If the C drive is on I can toggle the ? volume on/off.

If the C drive is off I cannot toggle the ? volume on/off, on/off does not function.

If I turn on the ? volume and turn off the C drive, when I click OK the ? volume turns off also.

    Sound strange?

    Mark

  3. Why does my login scree offer me windows 10 on volume 2 and also windows 10 on volume 4?

    Hi,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

I can understand, how frustrating it can be, when things don’t work as expected.

I'd be glad to help you.

Please answer these queries, mentioned below:

    • Were you able to install Windows 10 successfully?
    • Did you check, if the volume file is present in the Windows.old folder?
    • Have you activated your Windows 10 with Microsoft volume license key?
I would suggest you to follow these steps, mentioned below to delete volume files manually from Windows.old folder and check, if it helps.

    • Enter This PC in the search box, and then click on
This PC in the search results.
    • Double-tap or double-click the drive that Windows is installed on (typically, the C: drive).
    • Double-tap or double-click the Windows.old folder.
    • Double-tap or double-click the Users folder.
    • Double-tap or double-click your user name.
    • Open the Windows.old folder that contain the volume files, that you want to delete.
    • Delete the volume files that you want from Windows.old
folder on Windows 10 and check, if it works.
    • Repeat steps 5-7 for each user account on your PC.
Please feel free to contact us, if you face any issues with Windows.

    Thank you.

    Strange drives in Win 10"\\? \Volume(xyz)" ?

Win 7 and Win 10 on network

I have home network with separate modem, router, and WAP's. My Windows 7 computer does NOT list the Windows 10 computers on network computer list but the Windows 10 computers network list DO list the Windows 7 computer.

Turned off firewalls, gave permissions, shared drives. Nothing allows Win 7 computer to access the Win 10 computers.

    Any suggestions for a fix?
