Windows 10: Strange Icon shows up when displaying the "Desktop" in Windows File Browser

A strange icon showed up in the "Desktop" folder when I displayed the Desktop content in the windows file browser. However, the icon does not appear on the Desktop screen. Beside the icon were 10 unintelligible characters. I enclose a screen shot here and the icon in the red circle is what I am talking about.When single-clicking the icon using the right mouse button, the context menu only include 5 items: "open", "open in new window", "Pin to Quick Access", "Pin to start", "create shortcut". Remove Linux Desktop Icons

I am not sure whether this will work (Ubuntu does not have icons like that on the desktop by default), but I suggest opening the trash bin and sweeping the icons into the window showing the trash bin.

 

Strange Shadow type Icon/Image Windows 10

In order to help you with your concern about the strange shadow, icon or image on your Windows 10 screen, you may check and access the icon using the File Explorer of your Windows 10 PC. Follow these steps:

• Click the File Manager icon from the taskbar.
• Click This PC.
• Click the Desktop folder.
• It should show you that strange desktop icon and its corresponding File name.
  

If it doesn't show, you may try changing your wallpaper into a darker type and see if the strange figure would still be there. If it is, then it might be a dead pixel that you currently have on your screen.

No icons on desktop after startup only

Have you tried toggling the Desktop icons on and off?

• Right-click on an open area of the Desktop
• Click: View
• If Show Desktop icons is already checked, uncheck it.
• Repeat the above steps a time or two.
• Check: Show Desktop icons

If no go on the above, right-click on the empty Desktop, and create a file.
