  1. Strange issue with trying to use a key as a dead key and a standalone character with MSKLC

Hello, I am trying to make a keyboard layout with MSKLC to allow me to type Inuktitut syllabics easier, and I've run into a strange issue that I'm not sure how to resolve. The language that I'd like to write with the characters allows n at the end of syllables, as well as at the start, and the way that the character is displayed changes in either case. e.g. "tan" would be written ᑕᓐ ta-n, while pana would be written ᐸᓇ. For this, I tried to bind the n key from US ASCII to that smaller n symbol, while also having it act as a dead key when a vowel follows it. This seems to work fine in the layout tester in MSKLC, however when I export the keymap, install it, and try to use it outside of that context, it just types 2 of the ᓐ characters in a row, rather than whatever is appropriate for what I'm trying to write.

In this example, this is the result when I type "tan" and "pana" respectively, rather than the correct results that I outlined above

While a bit harder to see, this example taken from the keyboard layout tester in MSKLC does treat "n" correctly

Is this sort of bug anything anyone else has run into? Is this something that I can mitigate, or are there any alternative programs that could do what I'm trying Allow me to make a custom layout to take ascii text and convert it into Inuktitut syllabics, similar to pinyin input methods if I can't get this working? Thanks!

    :)

  2. Custom keyboard layout - add special keys using dead and live keys

I'm using MSKLC to make a custom keyboard for an internal purpose. what i was missing is when pressing certain key two times consecutively without space get a new unicode character. in the context we use it is harmless to have specific string (lets
say 2 characters) of characters converted another single unicode character.

here i don't want to use modifier keys such as Caps, Shift, Alt or Ctrl. the whole point of asking this question is the same.

so far i tried with dead key mapping. ex: assigned to VK_A

main < key > = a in dead section of the same i assigned

    < base > = a

    < composite > = ã // U+00E3

so the problem now is while im getting ã if i do key stroke of VK_A two times. but i cannot get the standard 'a' from VK_A.

how to keep the main key while having a dead key also ?

or how to make compose keys ?

  3. Problems with dead keys on MKLC

    Hello,

I’m using the Keyboard Layout Creator 1.4 to create custom keyboard layouts that fit my typographic requirements. For the field that I study I need a lot of characters that aren’t available on the windows keyboard. I use dead keys to exploit a wider range
of characters, but some of theese don't work out the way I want. For example, I have a key with the label ‘9’ that produces small capital letters like ᴀ, ʙ, ᴄ…. In an earlyer version the label was simply ‘ᴀ’, but every time I pressed the key the output would
be ‘ᴀᴀ’, it was practically not a dead key but a zombie key.

Currently I’m rebuilding the greek polytonic keyboard, because I don’t like where the special characters are located in the original layout. Now the same problem occurs with nearly every diacritical mark.

When I press the keay for

    • ´ (oxia, U+1ffd)
    • ᾿ (psili, U+1fbf)
and so on, nothing happens but windows making a light tone. There a two exceptions:

    1. ῏ (psili and perispomeni, U+1fcf) behaves like the small caps, which means the output is ‘῏῏’
    2. ΄ (tonos, U+0384), ͺ (iota subscript, U+037a), ̄ (macron, U+00af) and ̆ (breve, U+02d8) behave normally.

Are there special constraints to the dead keys that I’m not aware of? I have no idea why for example ῏ (psili and perispomeni, U+1fcf) ῟ (dasia and preispomeni, U+1fdf) would behave differently.

    Thanks in advance

  4. Strange issue with trying to use a key as a dead key and a standalone character with MSKLC

    MSKLC Help for Multi combination

Hi I am from Bangladesh. I used my native keyboard software for writing to my native language. But I'm not satisfied with those keyboard.

I've tried Microsoft Keyboard Layout Creator (MSKLC) which is so great with my custom keyboard layout. But there are not enough character for my language. So I want to composite a multiple combination with MSKLC

    Such as : when the key sequence is " K" + " &" + " j" then I want to change this 3 key sequal to "K¬"

Another is : when the key sequence is "&" + "v" then I want to change this 2 key sequal to "Av"

If is it possible then i can get my custom keyboard layout with MSKLC

    Please help me out anyone......
