Strange Keyboad Problem - Selective Remapping?

I’ve been experiencing some strange keyboard problems on my laptop.

    Technical background info:
    Windows 10, Version 1909 (OS Build 18363.778)
Trekstor C11 Laptop (The laptop is a German model with a German keyboard)
Keyboard layout on the laptop is German QWERTZ
Windows Display Language is set to English (United States)
Windows Preferred Language is set to English (United States) with the German keyboard layout
German is set as a secondary preferred language
Region is set to United States

    Now to describe the problem.

Regardless of what program is running – it could be LibreOffice, Word, or Firefox – the cursor will spontaneously start to move up through the document. I first noticed the problem in Firefox, when the problem manifested itself with the webpage scrolling upward for no reason. The problem has even happened in Paint, where the cursor or selected area will spontaneously start to move straight up through rest of the image.

Another problem that has been occurring is that the control key will act as an up-arrow key. So, for example in LibreOffice, if I hit Ctrl+v to paste, the cursor first gets moved up one line before the paste event occurs, so the clipboard item is pasted one line higher than expected.

A similar problem is happening with the shift keys. They too are being remapped as up-arrow keys. So for example if I’m typing in Word, and want to type a capital letter, pressing shift will cause a selection to appear from the original cursor location and up one line (just like making a selection manually where you hold down shift and use the arrow keys to create the selection area.) (See attached screenshot)

None of the keys on the keyboard are damaged or stuck. The arrow keys, the shift keys, and the control key are all fine, with no physical damage, food deposits or anything else that would cause the keys to act strangely. I have never before had any problems of this sort. Windows updates have all run smoothly.

To be 100% sure that the keys themselves are not the problem, I attached an external USB keyboard to the laptop. At the first instance when the problem re-occurred, I stopped using the laptop keyboard and started using the USB keyboard. The external USB keyboard causes the same exact problems!

    A few further technical notes:

The problem is by no means constant. After turning on the computer, it takes about 20 minutes before the problems start. Then sometimes the matter resolves itself and all seems well only for the issue to recur a few minutes later.

When the problem is occurring, pressing caps-lock will cause the caps-lock LED to flicker as if the button is being pressed repeatedly several times per second. When this happens, the OSD on-screen icon showing that Caps-Lock has been pressed also repeatedly flickers between caps-lock-on and caps-lock-off.

When the problem is occurring, and I’m using Word or LibreOffice, I’ve noticed that pressing and holding down the delete key results in a very sluggish deletion of words. It’s as if it’s busy doing something else. When the problem isn’t happening, holding delete is really quick to delete a line of text. Also, the left or right arrow keys don't respond when being pressed and held down. You have to click them for each left or right as needed.

The left shift key is more badly affected by this problem than the right shift key. The right shift key is sort of usable as long as I don’t hold the shift key down too long.

    Sticky keys are not enabled.

None of these problems occurred before Windows was updated to Version 1909.

One thing that I have noticed is that when this problem manifests itself, the area of the laptop keyboard around the left shift key is hotter than normal.

I’ve tried uninstalling the keyboard via the device manager, but with no effect.

Can anyone suggest a way forward to solving this problem? It’s as if the keyboard (both the laptop keyboard and the external USB keyboard) are being selectively remapped and then being restored to their default setting when the problem subsides.

    :)

Nvidia driver problem with 940 MX on Windows 10 x64

I would only go back to the driver from the computers manufacturers if you experience any issues with the latest drivers from devie manufacturers.

If everything is still working well with the clean boot then you can start troubleshooting as follows to start:

How to determine what is causing the problem after you do a clean boot

    1. Log on to the computer by using an account that has administrator rights.
    2. From Start, search for msconfig. (In Windows 10, use the Search box from the Start menu. In Windows 8 or 8.1, swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and then tap Search. Or, if you are using a mouse, point to the lower-right corner of the screen, and then click Search.)
    3. Select msconfig or System Configuration from the search results.
    4. Tap or click the Services tab, and then tap or click to select the Hide all Microsoft services check box.
    5. Tap or click to select the upper half of the check boxes in the Service list.
    6. Tap or click OK, and then tap or click Restart.
    7. After the computer finishes restarting, determine whether the problem still occurs.
    • If the problem still occurs, repeat steps 1 through 6, but clear the lower half of the check boxes in the Service list that you originally selected.
    • If the problem does not occur, repeat steps 1 through 6, and select only the upper half of the remaining check boxes that are cleared in the Service list. Repeat these steps until you have selected all the check boxes.
    • If you still experience the problem when only one service is selected in the Service list, this means that the selected service causes the problem, and you should go to step 11. If no service causes the problem, go to step 8.
    8. Repeat steps 1 and 3 in this section.
    9. Tap or click the Startup tab, and then tap or click to select the upper half of the check boxes in the Startup Item list.
    10. Click OK, and then click Restart.
    • If the problem still occurs, repeat steps 8 and 9, but clear the lower half of the checked boxes in the Startup Item list that you originally selected.
    • If the problem does not occur, repeat steps 8 and 9, and select only the upper half of the remaining check boxes that are cleared in the Startup Item list. Repeat these steps until you have selected all the check boxes.
    • If you still experience the problem after only one Startup Item is selected in the Startup Item list, this means that the selected Startup Item causes the problem, and you should go to step 11. If no Startup Item causes this problem, a Microsoft service probably causes the problem. To determine which Microsoft service may be causing the problem, repeat steps 1 through 7 without selecting the Hide all Microsoft services check box in each step.
    11. After you determine the startup item or the service that causes the problem, contact the program manufacturer to determine whether the problem can be resolved. Or, run the System Configuration utility, and then tap or click to clear the check box for the problem item.
