  1. Strange Mouse Behavior since 9/20, not mouse dependent

Yesterday 9/20 I noticed a few weird issues with my mouse:Sometimes I am unable to click on anything except in a particular application instance. So for instance I might have a chrome window where the mouse interacts with things, but if I then mouse over the desktop, icons on the desktop do not show the hover effect, if I click on the icons, they do not become selected, and if I double click on them, they do not open. Same if I move down to the task bar or to a different open application such as Slack. Once this starts, the only way to get it to move whatever is the 'favored' area is to

Mouse without borders mouse behavior issue

    Hi David,

Erratic mouse behaviors may be a caused by a corrupted software or a defective device. Hence, we would like to know more:

    • Have you done any changes on your computer?
    • Are we working on a wired or a wireless device?
    • If it is a wired device, have you tried a different USB port?
    • Have you used a different mouse and check if the issue persist?
    • What is the make and model of your computer?

Meanwhile, kindly check Mouse, touchpad, and keyboard problems in Windows. At the bottom page is a topic
about Hardware Troubleshooter Drivers. Please find the steps on how to update a device driver using Windows Update.

Keep us updated with the status of the issue and we'll be glad to assist you further.

    Strange mouse behavior after login...

    Hello...

I have a problem on my Windows 10 machine.

After I login the mouse will move as usual, that is I can move it around normally, but it won't respond to any click event.

This is a step-by-step attempt to describe the problem I have:

    1) Login screen with background shows up

    2) I login with my credentials... works just fine

    3) The Desktop with background shows up

    4) Any apps that were shutdown are starting up as expected (everything works just fine so far)

    5) I move the mouse to the bottom of my screen to get the start page to work.... (FAIL)

Nothing happens when I move the mouse to the bottom of the screen.

    6) I press the "windows"-button on the keyboard and the start page appears as expected (OK)

    7) I try to click on anything at all with my mouse on the start page and nothing happens at all (FAIL)

    8) I use the keyboard with arrow up/down and everything can be accessed this way (OK)

    9) I press enter on keyboard and the programs start as expected... (OK)

    10) I cannot use the mouse in any program at all since they won't register that I move it (FAIL)

So... there is a very subtle and strange workaround that I found out by myself...

After step 5 above (where basically all mouse events are sort of ignored) I press Ctrl+Alt+Del and this light blue screen appears.

If I select the task manager all problems disappears and I can at this point use the mouse and everything works normally again.

But I have to do this EVERY time I login which is quite annoying to be honest.

Basically my question is if this is a known issue and if there are any patches for it because I've searched around and haven't found any useful information.

I guess my most pressing question in my mind is if I have a key-logger but I don't think so since I do regular scans and found nothing so far.

I have two screens and a workstation btw.

If you need some dump or whatever let me know.

    Best Regards,

    David

Strange Mouse Behavior since 9/20, not mouse dependent

    Strange mouse behavior after login...

    Hi David,

Most of the time, issues related to mouse are caused by corrupted drivers. Updating mouse driver is the most effective resolution here.

Base on your issue description, your concern has something to do with the mouse itself (hardware). Let's have it confirmed. Have you tried using a different mouse? This would help us determine what causes the issue (hardware or software). If not, try doing
so. You can also try connecting the mouse to other ports.

Update us with the outcome of the suggestions above.
