Strange OS message while performing network diagnostics

Gentlemen, I have a PC with Windows 8.1, internet connection via an Asus RT-N12VP router. Now, when I diagnose the network, odd message appears: "Found error - Windows could not automatically detect the proxy settings for this network..." But according to the provider's instructions, I don't need to configure the proxy parameters, since all parameters IP, DNS addresses are being obtained automatically... Why does such a message appear when diagnosing the network ? Should I ignore this message ?...

    :)

    network diagnostic tool

Windows 7 has a built-in "network diagnostic tool." You don't need to install it.

    Perhaps you should explain ...

    1. What "MS diagnostic tool" you're referring to, including where you found a reference to that tool
    2. The details of the network problem you're trying to diagnose
    3. The complete text of the error message you get when you try to run the "MS diagnostic tool"

    What is this network device?

This is a weird problem I've been seeing in windows for years now (not just windows 10). I've been unable to figure out what it is, but we're not alone in this, I did some research a while back and a lot of other people were seeing it as well.

Some suggest it's a bug in the network stack. Some suggest it's neighbors who are connecting somehow, but not able to use the network. Regardless, it's not an uncommon problem and doesn't seem to be anything worry about. Here's some examples:

Strange names showing in Network Profiles on AVG Firewall

Some strange network names have been showing in my AVG Network Profiles list, that are not listed on the "known network" list on my windows 10 PC:

    DIRECT-MHDESKTOP-DVFUTVPmsGH

    DIRECT-XgDESKTOP-DVFUTVPmsQJ

    DIRECT-LDDESKTOP-DVFUTVPCRTH

    (my PC name is DVFUTVP)

Some posts online seem to suggest they are something to do with "Direct Desktop Connection" although I have never used this to connect to anything, only to wifi networks (all others on the list recognised) or bluetooth devices

Does anybody know why these could be showing up / what they are?
