Windows 10: Strange Permissions Issue - See Details

Okay, so I have a strange situation. I have a drive that has an old installation of Windows on it. If I try to copy a file to the root folder, it will give

Error 0x80070522: A required privilege is not held by the client.

However, if I copy the file to a subfolder and then try copying to the root drive again, it will work. It breaks and needs to be repeated whenever I close the window, though.

Is there any way to permanently get around this nuisance?

Permission issue

Presumably because TrustedInstaller is the owner (hence you need its permission), suggesting that img3.jpg was installed by Windows at some time.

Presumably that also means it can be uninstalled. How did you get it in the first place? Where is it located?

If you really want to delete it yourself, then taking ownership would seem a logical first step.

 

Folder won't open due to permission issue

Sorry for the delayed reply.

This may be caused by incorrect permissions on the files.

You can fix this using these steps:

• Open the properties of the main user profile folder where the files are located (such as Documents, Pictures, etc).
  
• Go to the Security tab and click Advanced.
• Check the box at the bottom of this window. It is labeled "Replace all child object permissions with inheritable permissions from this object" and then click Ok.
