Strange phantom user accounts after upgrade from Windows 7 to 10

I have a strange problem with a PC that I just upgraded from Windows 7 Home to Windows 10. This is the third PC in my family that I have done the upgrade but the only one to exhibit this problem. The system has 5 registered user accounts, but on the login screen after the system boots, these 5, plus 5 others all called "password" show up. See the picture below. These accounts don't show up in the user account administration settings or using netplwiz. They appear to be sort of like shortcuts to the real accounts because each one when selected, will actually login to one of the real users. I am stumped and don't know how to fix this. Has anyone else seen this? The PC is a Dell Studio XPS 1645 laptop. Could the facial recognition feature (which I am not using) cause this? I also tried doing a clean boot (as suggested from the MS forum), but it made no difference
    Thanks!

    Hi,

As of now, we would ask you to go to the safe mode and then do a clean boot and then again boot into the normal mode and check if the so called "password" account appear again.

Step 1: Safe mode with networking:

Safe mode is useful for troubleshooting problems with programs and drivers that might not start correctly or that might prevent Windows from starting correctly. Safe mode starts Windows with a limited set of files
and drivers. To start your system in safe mode follow the below steps:

    1. Press and hold Shift key and restart your Computer.

    2. Select Troubleshoot.

    3. Select Advance Option.

    4. Select Startup settings.

    5. Follow the on Screen instruction and select Safe mode with networking.

For more information refer to the below link:

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-in/windows-10/change-startup-settings-in-windows-10#v1h=tab01

After this, please follow the below step.

    Step 2: Clean boot.

Putting your system inClean Boot state helps in identifying if any third party applications or startup items are causing the issue. You need to follow the steps from the article mentioned below to perform
    a Clean Boot.

Disclaimer: After troubleshooting, refer to this section "How to reset the computer to start normally after clean boot troubleshooting"

Please let us know if the issue is resolved or you need any further assistance.

    Thank you.

You could try using the netplwiz command (type into search box) and then toggle the "users must enter a password" off and on. This sometimes sorts it out.

Toggling the "users must enter a password" didn't help, so I uninstalled the FastAccess facial recognition software and that did the trick. Since I don't use it, its no big deal and it was pretty old from 2010. Maybe Dell has a newer version that I could try, but now at least the login screen looks correct. Thanks for the suggestion anyway!
