Strange problem. Lenova C940 Adapter plugged in = LAG, Internet Disconnect.

Hello,I hope someone has insight into what is causing this issue and how to resolve it.I have tried all possible troubleshooting steps. The problem:It began approximately two weeks ago while playing a game. The game started lagging and disconnected me from the internet. This occurred consistently.I discovered that when I unplugged my adapter, the issues disappeared—no lag, no disconnections. Without the adapter, it seems the GPU switched to Intel Graphics, as the FPS dropped from 60 to 30 but caused no further problems in-game.I also observed significant lag when opening YouTube, making it challe

  3. Internet Randomly Disconnects: Ethernet Network Adapter Keeps Disconnecting

My internet keeps randomly disconnecting throughout the day. Its a Dell (Windows 10Pro 22H2 - Dell Precision 5770) with Network Adapter: Realtek USB Gbe Family Controller Ethernet. I tried these steps below, no resolution yet:

One thing I noticed, everytime the internet randomly disconnects, I go to Device Manager, and notice the Realtek Network Adapter has totally disappeared from the list (with no option to reenable, even after finding it in Hidden devices).

I have to go through these two steps in this order to bring back internet.

    1. Restart Computer
    2. and then Restart Modem Router. ( I do restart modem by unplugging/plugging back in).
If the ethernet disconnects, Restarting the Modem won't work. Neither will Restarting Computer work. It has two be those two steps above in that specific order. I'm curious if having this resolution path, to understand why ethernet adapter disappears. If you can help target or specify why its occurring?

Already attempted this: and the problem still continues

    1. Updated Dell Drivers
    2. Windows Update

    4. (a) Network Reset and (b) tried manually uninstalling/reinstalling network drivers separately
Strange problem. Lenova C940 Adapter plugged in = LAG, Internet Disconnect. [IMG]

    5. Tried manually downloading the software drivers at Realtek website Downloads - REALTEK
    6. Replace cable just in case, but the other computer in home does not have internet randomly disconnect
    7. Tried:
    1. Disable these three in Device Manager: (a) Energy Efficient Internet (b) Green Ethernet (c) Wake on Magic Packet
I use the modem with another computer, and no issues whatsoever, until I got a new computer.

Note: this is different from previous question, since its looking at a problem/diagnosis path, rather power management settings.

    Internet disconnects automatically

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

I appreciate the efforts you have taken in trying to resolve the issue. I understand that the laptop gets disconnected from internet automatically.

As you have mentioned that after a network reset the internet starts working, I would suggest you to check the following settings and see if that makes a difference:

    Power Management settings:

We can try changing the Power Management settings for the Network Adapter and see if that helps. Refer the steps mentioned below:

    1. Press Windows Logo key + X, and select
      Device Manager.
    2. Expand Network Adapters.
    3. Right click on the Wi-Fi Adapter, and select
      Properties.
    4. Now, go to Power Management tab.
    5. Clear the checkbox for Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.
    6. Click on OK.

Set Maximum performance for Wireless Adapter:

I would suggest you to try setting the power settings for Wireless Adapter to Maximum Performance. Refer the steps mentioned below:

    1. Press Windows Logo key + R, to open
      Run dialog box.
    2. Type control powercfg.cpl,,3 and click on
      OK.
    3. Expand, Wireless Adapter Settings, and then
      Power Saving Mode.
    4. Select Maximum Performance for
      On battery
      and Plugged in.
    5. Click on OK.

Change Startup type for WLAN AutoConfig

You can also change the start type for WLAN AutoConfig service to Automatic. Refer the steps mentioned below:

    1. Press Windows Logo key + R, to open
      Run dialog box.
    2. Type services.msc and click on
      OK
      .
    3. Look for WLAN AutoConfig service and double click on it.
    4. Select Automatic from the drop-down for
      Startup type.
    5. Click on Start to start the service.
    6. Click on Apply and OK.

Let us know how it goes.

    Regards,
