Strange problem with Amedia USB 3 1074 chip

Asus X99 Deluxe II, Asmedia (1074) USB 3.0 not working properly since Windows 10 Pro H2 update.

Issue is USB 3.0 (only) devices no longer work on Asmedia USB rear ports. Two WD and one Hitachi external drives connected. However USB 2 devices work just fine in these same ports.
Have been trying everything this mature well versed techie can think of for the last few weeks to no avail. Have read recent USB problem posts here++++
Did a clean install of windows a few times now(to try and isolate issue) . After a clean install then installing the latest Intel x99 chipset drivers only, everything looks just fine in device manager. No error events, etc. But no joy when plugging in a USB 3 device into the affected ports. When a USB 3 HD is plugged in the drive wakes up, but thats it no connection is made and no errors. USB 2 devices pick up and work fine.
Asmedia 2.0 and 3.1 ports (different chip) work as designed. Intel ports all work as designed including USB 3 devices.

Im leaning towards a hardware failure. But the fact USB 2 Devices work fine at full speed and USB 3 devices wake up when plugged in have me wondering?
What do you expert trouble shooters think? Wish there was a way to test the Asmedia chipset.

    :)

    Strange USB-Drive Icons

Hi, I've not looked into this at all, but looking at that folder the one that appears to contain the strange icon is
    f4e323bf-0f31-42b6-9ad6-5d5382d3fa83
    - I don't have one called 797289b8-812a-4d9e-bda5-91567fd47bc6

Would I be correct in thinking that this ico file is the clue as to which to delete?

    Windows 10 USB 3 issues

    Hi,

Thank you for posting your query on Microsoft Community.

As per the issue description flash drive (USB 3 device) is not working on your computer after upgrading to Windows 10.

I understand that the USB device is not getting detected by your computer. The issue may arise if the currently loaded USB driver has become unstable or corrupt or if your PC requires an update for issues that may conflict
with a USB device and Windows. This may also occur if your USB controllers may have become unstable or corrupt. So, I would suggest you to try the following steps and check if the issue persists.

    Method 1:

Remove and reinstall all USB controllers.

    • Open Device Manager by pressing Windows key + X and select
device manager from the list. If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
    • In the list of hardware categories, find and expand Universal Serial Bus controllers.
    • Right-click every device under the Universal Serial Bus controllers node, and then click
Uninstall to remove them one at a time.
    • Restart the computer, and let the USB controllers get reinstalled.
    • Plug in the removable USB device, and then test to make sure that the issue is resolved.

    Method 2

The issue could be if the drivers are not updated or get corrupted. So, try to install all of the Windows updates available and if issue persists, try to update the Display drivers by following the steps provided in the article mentioned below.

How to: Install and Update drivers in Windows
    10

If issue still persists, then install the drivers for Windows 8/8.1 from the manufacturer's website in compatibility mode and check if that works.
