Windows 10: Strange sounds coming from OS.

Hello, I consider myself rather apt at computers, Ive been building and fixing for about 15 years. Got a curve ball today. When opening task manager only task manager so far if the manager window is small enough to scroll left or right, doing so will produce a sound when I reach all the way left or all the way right. Not a windows sound Im used to of course. Not the asterisk sound or something familiar. No, scrolling all the way left plays what I can only describe as a clown horn and scrolling all the way right plays a gun cocking sound! chchk This is happening on my alienware r4 17 and the mechanism to scroll left and right is two fingers on the trackpad. The sounds are incredibly annoying and hopefully not part of some virus, which none of my scans picked up, safemode or otherwise. I cant find a single setting that denotes any sound to be played when hitting horizontal scroll boundaries. Any input would be greatly appreciated. The computer isnt used for much more than streaming movies through paid services, like Netflix, and hasnt had anything downloaded other than updates in about a year.

Good surround sound headset

I know you say you're not that guy, but stepping into the $250+ range really brings a change in build quality that might have you never having to buy another set. Otherwise, getting 6 speakers with decent sound in a headset is hard, and that's what you are asking for, and I have no suggestions, but just a bump up the list. *Stick Out Tongue

 

Sound Quality

One thing that sticks out from looking at your "My Computer" specs. You list "ONBOARD 6 CHANNEL (5.1) HIGH DEF AUDIO (AS STANDARD)" which suggests you do not have the correct sound hardware driver. Your motherboard has Realtek sound and the first step is to install the Realtek sound drivers. My ASUS also came with Sonic Studio 2 which is a sound enhancement package. Check the ASUS install disc to see if you have something similar.

May not be a speaker problem.

 

No sound coming from any streaming service

Method 1: Run Hardware and Devices Troubleshooter

Follow these steps to run Hardware and Devices troubleshooter:

• Press Windows key + X and click on Control Panel.
• Select Troubleshooting.

• Click Hardware and Devices.

Method 2: Uninstall and reinstall the Sound driver

I suggest you to try uninstall the Sound drivers check if it works for you.

Follow the steps to uninstall the Sound drivers:

• Press Windows Key + X key and click Device Manager.
• Expand ‘Sound, Video and Game Controllers.
  
• Right-click on the Audio devices listed and click on ‘Uninstall’.
• Select the option to Delete driver software.
• Restart the computer after its uninstalled.

Try to access the device manufacturer's website and download and install the latest chipset and sound drivers.
