Windows 10: Strange unresponsive small icon on my desktop

For the last day or two I've been seeing this small icon on my desktop. It's less than a quarter the size of a normal icon which I've placed next to it for size comparison. Has anyone seen anything like this before?If I left-click or double-click on it, nothing happens. If I right-click on it, I get the same menu appear as I do when I right-click on the desktop.If I right-click the desktop and choose refresh, the icon doesn't go away, thus implying it's not just a weird artefact but an actively displayed thing from an active app.If I click on the far-right of the taskbar to hide all open apps

Small icons setting won't change

I suggest that you change or uncheck Use small taskbar buttons by following the steps below:

• Right-click the Taskbar.
• Select Properties.
• In the Taskbar tab make sure that Use small taskbar is

• Click Apply and OK.

If the issue still persists, you can change the size of desktop icons.

• Right-click an empty space on the desktop.
• Select View and choose either Large, Medium or Small icons.
• Check if you can change the size of the taskbar button.

Remove Linux Desktop Icons

I am not sure whether this will work (Ubuntu does not have icons like that on the desktop by default), but I suggest opening the trash bin and sweeping the icons into the window showing the trash bin.

 

Desktop Icons Won't Stay Put

I suggest you try the following step in order to arrange the icons.

• Right click on the desktop.
• Click on view
• Check the option auto arrange icons.
