    Hello.

Im hoping for a little guidance.

I've been having issues with my ISP supplied Wi-Fi router so I went and bought a 2 band Dlink AC750.

My laptop is a few years old now and it's Wi-Fi card Dell wireless 1704 802.11b/g/n doesnt support the 5ghz signal on the router, so i went to connect to the 2.4ghz channel. Unfortunately my PC wouldnt "discover" any signals coming from the router.

I looked through many online forums and spoke with an IT buddy if mine and eventually got it to work by changing the 802.11 mode on the routers settings from mixed n/g/b to g/b only. And BOOYAH!!!! PC discovers signal connects all is right in the world.

This morning however Wi-Fi is doing some weird and confusing ****. It worked fine on my pc and phone/chromecast/alexa all day yesterday. Before bed i shutdown my pc.

Today. Phone/chromecast/Alexa all g. Start up pc. Cant detect the 2.4ghz signal. All other devices are connected to 5ghz

Go into Wi-Fi settings on pc. Everything the same. Go into router advanced settings via tethering pc to phone. No changes.

I change the router from mix b/g to only 802.11b. No change. Cant detect Wi-Fi signal.

I then return router settings to mixed b/g and boom pc detects signal and auto connects.

Weird. This is a bit of an effort to have to takr possibly any time I restart or shutdown my laptop. I would love any assistance please.

    :)

    USB Wi-Fi Adapter Disabling

Is it on Windows 8's compatibility list (check MS website- forgot link)?

I had an issue with one Wi-fi adapter and it wasn't listed as compatible- All was well when I swapped it out with one on the compatibility list
