Windows 10: strange winrar files on desktop

so on my windows laptop, whenever i look at my desktop itself, nothing is wrong with it, it looks like how it always does, and theres no suspicious looking files. however, when i open up file explorer and go from: this pc >>windows-SSD C:>>users>>my name>>desktop, it shows a bunch of winRAR files, and none of the actual files on my desktop are listed. except one png file


the winrar files are titled things like “Apr2006_d3dx9_30_x” all the way up to like “Aug2009_XAudio_x64” they all say they were modified on 6/2/2010 at either 6:21 AM or 6:22 AM. are these files supposed to be on my computer, or do i have strange scripts on my computef that i should get rid of?


when the winrars are open, they have setup informations, application extentions, security catologs, and applications, with one always being calling “infist.exe”. when i try running the application, nothing happens. is my computer okay lol? theres like over 60 of these type of winrar files. im wondering if it has anything to do with me updating my laptop to “directx9c” for my computer, which i’ve done a couple of times to run one of my animation programs.

Do you have WinRAR installed on your PC?

If so: right click a RAR, choose 'Open With' - Choose Another App

Important - Check the box marked 'Always use this app to open rar . . .'

If WinRAR is not in the list, scroll to the bottom and click 'More Apps'

Again if WinRAR is not in the list, at the bottom, click 'Look for another app on this PC', then navigate to find the WinRAR executable . . .

 

windows 10 deleted my desktop files

Step 1 - I upgraded to Win 10 and lost all my files on Desktop.

Step 2 - Found the files in Network - USers- Desktop

copied all files again to desktop.

Step 3- Restarted my machine again and lost desktop files again.

Step 4 - As suggested did the following as listed below but dont find my files.

• Press “Windows + E”, open This PC/Computer
• Open Local Disc C, open Windows.old
• Click on Users, select your User name
• Go to desktop folder

Cant find my files. Why is Win 10 deleted files again and again from Desktop ?.

 

Corrupted file RAR

If the archive has been created using WinRAR, why don't you try WinRAR itself? It has a built-in repair feature for repairing corrupted archive (ZIP as well as RAR). Follow the steps given below:

• Open WinRAR application in your system.
• Now click on File tab > Open or simply press Ctrl+O.
• A small window "Find Archive" will pop up. Locate the corrupt RAR archive from your system directory and select it.
• Now click Open button.
• Click Tools tab > Repair archive or simply press Alt+R.
• Again a small window "Repairing File name.rar" will pop up.
• Now click Browse to select a location to save the repaired archive.
• Check the box "Treat the corrupt archive as RAR" and click OK.
• WinRAR will start repairing of corrupt RAR archive. Once it gets completed click Close.

I hope the above steps will help you repair the corrupted RAR archive.
