  1. Streaming video lag due to background process prioritization

After updating to windows 11 I've noticed that if I'm watching a video or stream on my side monitor and doing something else in a different program on my main monitor, the video will lag quite terribly, stuttering and going down to the worst possible quality. It seems that Win 11 shifts resources away from background apps even if there are more than enough resources to run both? Is there any way to work around this? I've tried manually setting my browser to a higher priority through task manager but it didn't change the situation. All of my drivers are up to date... in fact, this has persi

STORE apps background processes cause keyboard shortcut lag (revisited)

Store-derived apps running as a background process cause a four-second lag when
keyboard input is used to launch any shortcut.

Calculator, as an example, spontaneously appears as a background process, or any store app may invoke STORE in the background, as seen in taskmanager. If either is shown there, a keyboard shortcut launch will lag. When launched manually, calculator does not
appear as a background process, but later - even when not used - it will eventually be listed.

At times there's a lag even without these processes running, but that is infrequent and may occur after rebooting. Lag can be banished by clicking the notification icon or killing the SHELL EXPERIENCE HOST process, which hints that it's related to the problem.
The process restarts spontaneously, but the lag doesn't return until, often, the next boot.

Some posts hint that this issue has been ongoing for years, but it first became evident here in Windows 10. Is there a way to prevent store apps from running in the background? Better still, is there a way to prevent the lag when they do?

    Program running a background process?

I'm running Corel Video Studio 2018, and it's updates function shows characteristics of a background process:

    - the program has an auto check daily plus a manual option for updates

    - manually checked, presented with an option of downloading an update and Ok'd, evidence of any activity vanishes from the program workspace, yet the connected internet modem activity light begins running hot as the download happens

    - it's repeatable over several up-date cycles

The evidence seems to suggest a background activity - whilst the program/PC is free to use for other things. Several software packages do this.

However, a check in task manager/processes, show all, does not display any info of a related background process for any Corel or Video Studio program. If a background process is being used by the software, MUST it be listed in the task manager/processes
    list?

Platform is windows 7 home sp1 64bit plus the important patches.

Streaming video lag due to background process prioritization

    C7 video streaming lags

Hi! I've been having this problem since i got my phone in march or something but I haven't felt the need to watch any streamed content until now so I didn't really care.

Anyways the problem is whenever I try to stream video with the webbrowser or with an app that does not have its own video software (for example SVT, swedish television) the video stream starts to lag horribly after about 20 seconds. The video gets all weird
and the audio sounds horrible. If I skip forward in the video, i still have the same problem, about 20 seconds after i start watching the stream gets ruined again...

So is there any know fix or can i somehow reinstall the webbrowser/media player?

    Thanks
