  1. Struggling with System Interrupts and Resetting PC

    Hey all,

I've been having trouble with my PC, as the cursor keeps freezing when I am using it, the system interrupts are spiking for no real reason, and I've had a couple of blue screens over the course of the last month - the issues have no obvious connection and the system interrupts aren't always high when the mouse freezes and vice versa. I've tried about half a dozen different fixes over the last few weeks but I'm running out of ideas so I've been trying to do a system refresh, keeping all of my files and hopefully fixing all of the problems, however it keeps failing saying that my PC has restarted unexpectedly.

I've tried deleting/reinstalling/updating drivers for the touchpad along with other common offenders for high system interrupts like the graphics card, updating the BIOS, checking the disk for errors along with a few other things - I can't be more specific or explain why I've done each one as I've been trying to sort this in between deadlines for the past month, and I've lost the notes I've been taking with error codes and specific routines I've run.

Any advice you can offer would be fantastic!

    :)

Error message: There was a problem resetting your PC. No changes were made.

    Hi Daniel,

Listed below are some reasons why resetting was not successful:

    • Applications blocking the process to continue.
    • Corrupted files/programs interrupting the process

To help you out with it, we suggest following the steps below that can help in resetting the computer without other programs interrupting it:

    • Right click on the Start menu.
    • Choose Command Prompt (Admin).
    • Type cd %windir%\system32\config, then click Enter.
    • Type ren system system.001,then click Enter.
    • Type ren software software.001,then click Enter.
    • Close the Command Prompt and restart the computer.
    • Go to Settings and try to reset the computer again.
We'll be waiting for your feedback.

    Help with Hardware Interrupts

To use Krview, ignore any driver that is part of Windows or that is for the CPU idle thread.
inteppm is for the CPU idle thread, ignore it.
hal and ntkrnlpa are part of Windows, ignore them.
ati2mtag is the first one on the list that is elevated and relevant.
Find out what hardware interrupt it uses and then any device that shares this interrupt could be the problem. It might not be ati2mtag.
If its the video driver, can you use another card?
Putting the computer to sleep might reset things.

Receiving errors, System interrupts Deferred procedure calls and interrupt service routines

    Hi,

Thank you for posting your query on Microsoft Community.

I appreciate if you could answer a few questions to narrow down to the issue.

    • What is the make and model of the computer?

    • When exactly you received this error?

    • Did you make any recent changes to the computer?

    • Which connection are you using to access internet? Wired or wireless connection?

    • Did you install any third party security application?

A deferred procedure call is an interrupt-handling mechanism in the Windows operating system where the drivers can reference when running certain processes. Deferred procedure call allows a task to be activated but not executed, from a highly prioritized
    interrupt request level (IRQL).

As an initial troubleshooting step, I suggest you to put the computer in Safe mode and check if you receive this error.

Let us know if you need further assistance. We will be happy to help.

    Thank you.
