Windows 10: Stuck at 7% on windows update screen, can't enter winRE

Hello, my Windows 10 computer has been stuck at the screen "Working on updates 7% complete Don't turn off your computer" whenever I try to start it, no matter how long I let it run.I have been trying to start winRE by doing the method of holding the power button for 10 seconds to shut off the computer, starting up the computer, holding the power button for 10 seconds again to shut off again the moment the screen turns on which immediately goes into the 7% complete, and repeat until winRE starts, to no avail. I've also tried using the shift + f8, f9, and f12 potential boot keys, also to no av

Windows 10 stuck at black screen


hi, i tried upgrading my windows 7, but failed 5 times.
step 1 on copying files are 100%
step 2 installing features n updates are 100%
step 3 FAILED, it stuck on black screen and freeze, nothing i can do besides force restart and its restored to my windows 7 back.

any idea how to solve this? it's always stuck at 75% step 2 and when go to step 3 is freeze ( 5 times in row, i'm thinking give up or buy new laptop with windows 10*Biggrin*Biggrin*Biggrin)

p.s i'm currently downloading ISO file to blank DVD hopefully it's works

 

Windows 7 black screen of death

I read a report a little while ago that said the black screens were nothing to do with updates but due to a malicious program (it hit more than just windows 7 users - vista, xp and 2000 were also prone to the black startup screen of death if infected). My windows 7 install is fully up-to-date and i've never had the black startup screen.

Just run some decent anti virus and you should be safe (i suggest microsoft security essentails since it's free and pretty decent). When you've installed an anti-virus i'd suggest doing a full scen to be sure there's nothing there.

None of these 3 ways to enter Safe Mode,

From Settings,

From the sign-in screen,

From a black or blank screen

have worked, the PC is stuck in WinRE.
