Windows 10: Stuck at error 0x80004005

    Stuck at error 0x80004005


    Been stuck at this error for the past two days now, I've tried launching the windows update troubleshooter and also downloaded the Windows Update Assistant but to no avail. I also checked the Microsoft support page and it told me to launch the activation troubleshooter but the option is not displaying for me since I already have an activated Windows 10 Pro. Only extra info I can give is I installed this windows through a usb that came pre-activated. Any help would be appreciated.

    I have looked over many other posts about this, all with the same error code, but with a different problem.

    I have a computer thats a few years old, it has an ABIT kn8-sli motherboard, and its running off windows XP.

    I was having problem with the hard drive before I gave up on it awhile back, and now I have come back and resolved that problem, but now when I get to the login screen and type in the password it says its in need of an update, then when it asks me if I want to update I click Yes, and then it says it won't work due to error 0x80004005.

    The only operating system I have currently is windows 7. Do I need to go buy a new OS or is this recoverable?
