Windows 10: Stuck at the lock screen for my computer and any key that I press to try and unlock, it...

I was attempting to fix my FPS for a game that I was playing and I was tampering with my computer settings and then I had to reset my computer after I tried messing with the system configuration. My computer restarted and then the issue started with the lock screen where I can't get passed by it no matter what I do and I tried to find ways to activate safe mode but it didn't work.

Unlock by pressing key on keyboard (not working anymore)


I've got a weird one... anyone else had the ability to unlock (meaning swipe away the lock screen to get to the password screen) by pressing a key on the keyboard go away? In other words, I used to be able to walk up to my computer and press the space key and then enter my password. That no longer works. I now have to click the unlock screen.

It's been happening at random to my Windows 10 machines. Some still work, others don't. My work PC is the latest casualty.

Happening to anyone else? Know a fix?

Do let us know if you are able to see any error message/ error code with locking the computer.

Let us try the below steps to unlock and check if it helps.

• I suggest you to restart the computer, try to unlock and check if the issue persists.
• Use On-screen keyboard to type in your password and check if it helps.

Click on the Ease of access on the lock screen at the right-bottom corner, turn on
On-screen keyboard to type the password.

Computer stuck at lock screen and after Anniversary Update on Windows 10

The first suggestion is not helpful since the problem is that we have many open programs stuck behind the lock screen.

I have run into this problem and tried the On-screen keyboard but it does not help.

An additional data point is that it does not matter what password is entered.

Enter correct password -> spinner shows up, after about 30 seconds the spinner goes away and the screen remains locked.

Enter blank password (simply hit Enter) -> same behaviour as above.

The behaviour is the same whether using physical or On-screen keyboards.
