Windows 10: Stuck in a boot cycle after a restart where both Windows update 1903 and chkdsk where...

Hi,


I was trying to update windows 10 from 1809 to 1903 from Windows Update, after everything was installed I restarted the PC and it went to recovery mode. My next step was using the Windows Assistance tool on the Microsoft website to install the update. After it finished installing, I thought it would be a good to open the command prompt and type the command to check the disk for errors when it reboots. So now my theory is that when it restarted, both the chkdsk was trying to run as well as the windows 10 update 1903 and they clash causing the pc to reboot. Any thoughts? PC was completely fine before the update... Is there a way to cancel the chkdsk maybe from the BIOS Menu? is there a way to reach the command prompt (or Advanced Mode) from the bios menu? I do not want to lose my files, I don't mind a fresh install of windows...Any help will be much appreciated.

Peculiar carousel: endless Windows 1903 update cycle

Trying to update Windows 10 from version 1809 to version 1903.

Update seems to go well until Windows asks, as usual, the user to restart, but after restart Windows boots only back to1809, not to 1903.

Windows update history is very peculiar, showing this endless cycle:

Feature update to Windows 10, version 1903

Requires a restart to finish installing

Feature update to Windows 10, version 1903

Requires a restart to finish installing

Feature Updates (3)

etc etc - the same cycle continues endlessly

Any fellow sufferer with this kind of symptom?

 

Task Switcher randomly gets stuck cycling windows


Good morning!

I am having an issue with the Task Switcher (see image below) activating on its own. It then begins to cycle through the open tasks very rapidly. When this happens I am unable to actually select any of the tasks, nor can I close them out. Windows is essentially frozen at this point and I have to restart.

A few things to note:

• I am running Windows 10 Pro.
• This happens randomly, sometimes weeks between an incident.
• Sometimes it happens while I am not even working at the computer. I've noticed it after returning to my desk.

Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

 

Wrong Boot Option Chosen @ Windows Update Restart

I'm stuck. For some reason, ONLY when Windows Update forces a restart, the system tries to boot from UEFI shell, and not C:/ drive as I've listed as Priority in the BIOS boot media menu. This causes a black screen that I have to power cycle to get out
of.

I can catch the restart cycle and manually select the correct drive by slapping F11 up to the restart at 43% - at which the system just ignores my F11 to Select Boot Options spam and we get stuck at the black screen mentioned above. Upon restarting, Windows
Update reports the install failed and the cycle begins anew.

WHYYYYYY is Windows Update choosing a non-priority boot sector? I've gone so far as to disable all options BUT the Windows directory on C:\ and it's still being overridden and the incorrect choice is prioritized. How do I stop this? Is there *any* way
to install the update without the constant reboots? All I want to do is update.
