Stuck in Automatic Repair Loop- Dell Inspiron 17R SE 7220

After recent Windows update, laptop was hanging up at Dell logo screen, and I’d have to do hard restart for it to boot into Windows. Through Dell Support Assist, ran diagnostic tests which noted hard drive working fine did note issue w/battery life and one test noted DVD drive unsupported but when ran test again DVD drive was fine. It did prompt me to install an Intel Chipset Driver. I did so, rebooted and it got hung up again at black, Dell logo screen. So, I launched Automatic Repair by hard restart 3 times and it showed that it was diagnosing PC then stated “start up repair couldn’t repair your PC.” I restarted, and it went straight to blue automatic repair screen. I tried multiple advanced options here to no avail including...enabling safe mode still rebooted to auto repair, disabling early-launch anti-malware protection, go back to earlier time said no recovery points, uninstall latest quality and feature updates said it was unable, reset PC and keep personal files “there was a problem resetting your PC- No changes were made. I also reset BIOS to default values, and rebooted-F12-Diagnostic-Enter get black screen with white arrow. Any ideas how I can resolve or at least get into Windows to retrieve some files? Thanks for any assistance you can offer.

    :)

  3. Windows 10 - Volume VERY, VERY low.

I had this problem with my Dell Inspiron 17R SE 7220. What I eventually did was go to Dell's support site, input my service tag number, and download the driver for my sound for windows 8.1. Works perfectly now.
