Windows 10: Stuck in installition of windows server 2016

My server hewlett packard proliant dl380 gen10 was running perfectly fine, when I try to power it on this morning I was stuck in choosing the keyboard layout when I do the start-up repair, I get a message saying that the drive where installing windows is locked, when I run diskpart list disk, I get one disk with a status no media the server was configured with RAID ONE , Thus I format the hard drive and when I tried to install windows server 2016 again using windows installation media the list of disk was empty because it does not show logical units, so I use assisted installation provided

Windows Server 2016 Upgrade

When updating from windows server 2012 R2 to server 2016, I'm not getting the step by step procedures where you can select keep file and apps and other steps. I just get the setup screen, which after couple of minutes it display a window to select what type of windows server you want to install.

Once selected it does a full install of windows server 2016, which re-images the C drive. Afterwards you have to re-install all your applications.

Any suggestions on why it doesn't go through the step by step procedures.

Strollin: I understand your suggestion, but that means I'll have to re-install all my sofftware etc. again. This is not an enticing thought at all.

LCDR: I tried the old activation code I used before - it is the same on you posted.

I tried the steps listed at the WinAero site. Last one failed because it said the server could not be located. But I did get the Jan 20, 2016 date back. So that's something.
