  1. Stuck on an inactive version of Windows 10 Pro

So the other day I decided to reset my PC that was running on Windows 10 Home. I created a recovery drive containing Windows 10 Home before I reset it but this drive did not work, so I had make a drive from my brother's Surface Pro that ran on Windows 10 Pro. When I reset my computer, I'm now stuck in an inactivated version of Windows 10 Pro that I do not have a key/license for. I have my product key from the copy of Windows 10 Home that I purchased about 3 years ago, but whenever I try to activate Windows through my settings I am met with this error: (0xc004f050). I'm assuming this is because it thinks I'm trying to activate Windows Pro with a Home product key, but I'm unsure. How would I go about using my product key to return to Windows Home from Windows Pro?

    Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK

    Stuck in Windows 10 Upgrade

My computer seems to be stuck in a Windows 10 failed upgrade loop. I was running fine on a beta version of Windows 10, and then I came downstairs one morning to see it repeatedly booting, attempting to repair, then rebooting. The steps I've taken to diagnose are:

    • Attempting to boot off a USB drive (with all drives disabled in BIOS) - this fails at the point of the blue windows screen
    • Attempting to boot the machine itself and getting into "repair/safe mode" using F7
    • Looking at the BIOS for obvious failures (e.g. RAM that should be there is missing) - nothing obvious is wrong.

I am fairly certain the build version was 9926. For many months, the system would attempt to upgrade, and then say "it failed" for some reason and roll back.

    Suggestions for next steps?

Stuck on an inactive version of Windows 10 Pro

Unable to update Window 10 Pro version 1607 to version 1709

Have made several attempts to update Windows 10 version 1607 to the latest version 1709 and have not been successful.

I've done the following per some suggestions found online:

    • Updated drivers
    • Ran the Trouble Shooter for Windows 10 (Errors found were shown to be "Fixed" per the tool)
    • Unplugged the printer
    • Ran the DISM.exe
Although not at every attempt, I have received the following errors:

    • 0xc1900101 - 0x30018
    • 0x900704c7
Can someone please advise me as to what the errors are and provide me with the steps to update Windows.

    Thank you
