Windows 10: Stuck on "Attempting Repair" loop on startup.

Hi, I'm trying to fix my son's laptop which is stuck on "attempting repair" on startup. I've tried pretty much everything I think. I booted from a flashdrive, tried everything including system restore which failed as it scanned the file system on the drive C:\ It suggests the drive might be corrupt & to try system restore again after running chkdsk /R on the disk, but I have no idea how to do that! The error code was 0x80070571. I keep hoping I won't have to reinstall Windows 10 as I can't really afford to replace the apps & I'm terrified of losing any files! Can anyone please help

Stuck in startup repair loop, startup settings missing

Hi, I am stuck in a startup repair loop and cannot boot into safe mode as there is no startup settings tile from the advanced options. I tried to use command prompt to boot into safe mode (the command I used started with bcdedit) but that didn't work either...I have also attempted to force safe mode by interrupting startup three times with the power button, but of course that didn't work either.

Windows 10 stuck in boot loop - startup repair not available

Essential Summary:
In short, I've attempted a windows update that decided to botch itself into an infinite boot loop. I'm unable to break into startup repair regardless of how many times I powercycle during startup. After managing to boot through a brand new (installed at the time of the issue) windows installation flashdrive, I tried the startup repair option, which stagnated on "attempting repairs" for 30 minutes. After, I attempted to restore to a system restore point, I created before the update to be told that my machine had no restore points.

Order of events
(Leading up to issue)

Description of loop:
MSI "Pres del/f11" UEFI screen for around 10 seconds -> Windows spinning dots loading circle ontop of that for ~10 seconds -> Brief flash of CMD Prompt -> Brief flash of windows screen saying roughly "undoing recent changes" -> screen blacks -> Back to start
