    Stuck on attempting repair, unsure what to do


    Hi,


    So, Yesterday I performed a hard shut down on my computer because it wouldn't wake up from sleep mode. However when I restarted it a message appeared, asking me to repair the computer I carried out the automatic repair and it didn't work, as it was late I chose the shut down option and decided I'd try to sort it out today, by booting it from my recovery usb, however this time the repair is taking longer, yesterday it took 20minutes and today it's been at it for 3hours. Do I carry on waiting for the automatic repair to finish or should I shut the computer down while it is doing it and then restart it and boot from my recovery usb. Or maybe try something else? Any ideas?

    Stuck in Windows 10 Upgrade

    My computer seems to be stuck in a Windows 10 failed upgrade loop. I was running fine on a beta version of Windows 10, and then I came downstairs one morning to see it repeatedly booting, attempting to repair, then rebooting. The steps I've taken to diagnose are:

    • Attempting to boot off a USB drive (with all drives disabled in BIOS) - this fails at the point of the blue windows screen
    • Attempting to boot the machine itself and getting into "repair/safe mode" using F7
    • Looking at the BIOS for obvious failures (e.g. RAM that should be there is missing) - nothing obvious is wrong.

    I am fairly certain the build version was 9926. For many months, the system would attempt to upgrade, and then say "it failed" for some reason and roll back.

    Suggestions for next steps?

    Stuck on attempting repairs

    Recently my computer has been acting slowly. Today the screen froze so I decided to restart the computer. When restarting it was taking much longer than usual to start up and when it did I couldn't get to the log in screen, it'd be a blank blue screen.
    I restarted a couple more times and spammef f8 and was able to get to the log in after spamming f8 but wasn't able to type in my password. Finally I decided to restart up in safe mode and I felt the error on my computer(lenovo y510p) was startup related
    so I decided to do a startup repair. However now the screen is stuck on attempting repairs and I'm unsure how long it should be on the screen. How long should I wait till I should restart again and if do need to restart again what steps should I take to
    get my computer to properly start up and
