Windows 10: Stuck on disk repair

10 days ago, my computer crashed and I wasn't able to log in in any way, I had to have it serviced, and they found that Microsoft had sent a corrupt file in their update while I slept, rendering my user corrupt. They had to set it back to factory settings, and gave me a clean computer Saturday. I spent the weekend installing things such a fonts, Adobe programs and the like. Nothing untoward. Then Sunday night, Microsoft ran another update while I slept, and yesterday morning, when I tried to log in, it took me to disk repair. And it's now been stuck on disk repair for more than 24 hours.


Both times my computer got currupted, it was via Windows updates. I now have a very expensive brick that is useless, and I need help.

We suggest you to repair your system using Windows 10 installation USB media and check if it corrects the problem.

Follow these steps:

• Disconnect all non-essential devices that might attached to your computer, Windows setup might be trying to detect them.
• If you connected to a network, disconnect this also.
• Download the Windows 10 ISO on a working computer and perform a startup repair:
• Click here to download the official ISO media for Windows 10.
  

After creating the USB installation media for Windows 10, follow the steps below:

      Insert the installation USB drive and boot Windows 10 from it.
      
    • 
      In the ‘Windows setup’ page select the ‘language to install’, ‘Time and currency format’ and the ‘keyboard or input method’ and click on ‘next’.
      
    • 
      Click on ‘Repair your computer’ and select ‘Troubleshoot’.

      Click on ‘Advanced options’ and select ‘Startup Repair’ and select the operating system.

Stuck in Windows 10 Upgrade

My computer seems to be stuck in a Windows 10 failed upgrade loop. I was running fine on a beta version of Windows 10, and then I came downstairs one morning to see it repeatedly booting, attempting to repair, then rebooting. The steps I've taken to diagnose are:

• Attempting to boot off a USB drive (with all drives disabled in BIOS) - this fails at the point of the blue windows screen
  
• Attempting to boot the machine itself and getting into "repair/safe mode" using F7
  
• Looking at the BIOS for obvious failures (e.g. RAM that should be there is missing) - nothing obvious is wrong.
  

I am fairly certain the build version was 9926. For many months, the system would attempt to upgrade, and then say "it failed" for some reason and roll back.

Suggestions for next steps?
