    I reset my pc and when I went to log in it said “User profile Service failed to sign in” so i booted into safe mode, it was stuck on the "its taking longer than expected..." screen and now its stuck on a black screen please help.

    it’s no longer stuck on the “it’s taking longer than expected screen” by the way, just the grey screen

  3. windows update stuck at installation screen and cannot get to desktop

    Hi Sue,

    To understand the issue better, I would like to ask some questions:

    • Is the computer stuck in the Installing updates screen?
    • For how long is the computer stuck in the screen?
    • When was the computer last updated?
    • Is the screen showing any percentage of installation?

    Sometimes the installation might take a long time to install if the update is of large size. So, I suggest you to wait for sometime and check if the system boots to the desktop. If it is taking a longer time, then perform a Power Drain by following the steps
    provided below:

    • Shut down the Computer.
    • Remove all power source (including battery if it is a laptop).
    • Press and hold the power button for 15-20 seconds.
    • Connect the power source and start the computer.
    • After the computer boots to the desktop, suggest you to install all the pending updates.

    It's taking a bit longer than expected, but we'll get there as fast as we can

    When a user logged in to a domain account, for the first time, on the laptop, it gave the "It's taking longer than expected" message. Eventually it booted, but the start menu was not working.

    Tried many fixes, reinstalling the modern apps etc, but nothing fixed the user.

    Reset Windows, and it was working fine. Logged in using the domain, the setup took a normal time, and all was good. But, I had to log in as an administrator as part of an application install, and got the "It's taking longer" message again, but eventually
    it booted. But, no tiles on the start menu and Microsoft store will not start.

    We have 2 other PCs (all new, shipping with 1709) and they are doing the same thing.

    At present, the first user logged in still appears to be working.

    Not really sure what to start looking at next.
