Windows 10: Stuck on system restore startup page

Hi everyone. So I decided to do a system restore on my laptop HP Pavilion windows 10 as there were a lot of bugs such as my brightness not working which was refusing to be fixed despite updating the driver etc.


However my laptop is now stuck on the system restore loading page and won’t budge. It says ‘Please wait while your Windows files and settings are being restored. System Restore is restoring the registry...’


Does anyone have any suggestions? It’s been ‘restoring’ for two days now. I’ve done restores in the past which usually only take a few hours so this is unusual. Have also tried the classic turning off and on again hack.

System restore got stuck

• What was the exact issue that you were facing that lead to perform restore?
• Did you receive any error message, when the system restore got stuck?
• Did you install any third party security application?

Since the computer is being stuck, I suggest you to restart the computer and try to perform the restore again and check if it helps.

I also suggest you to provide more information regarding the issue which led to perform system restore along with the make and model of the computer.

Since your system restore is stuck on initializing.

One of the possible reason that cause system restore stuck is that the boot manager is corrupted.

You can fix this by simply run repairs through Startup Repair.

To run Startup Repair, restart your computer. When your PC restarts, you'll see a screen titled "Choose an option," click Troubleshoot, and then Advanced options. Click Startup Repair from Advanced options.

Kindly follow these steps to fix system restore stuck on restoring files:

Run System Restore in Safe Mode

- Boot your computer.

- Press the F8 key before the Windows logo appears on your screen.

- At Advanced Boot Options, select Safe Mode with Command Prompt.

- Type: rstrui.exe and press Enter.

- Follow System Restore instructions to restore your computer by choosing an available restore point from the list.
