Windows 10: Stuck on the lock screen

Windows boots as normal, but when I get to the lock screen and I press a key it does the animation of the time and date sliding up and then resets. It doesn't ever give me the chance to go to the log in screen. I've tried doing startup repair but it just says it couldn't repair my PC, and booting into safe mode just gives me an infinite loading screen that says please wait. I also do not have any system restore points. Is there any way to fix this without resetting my computer?

Computer stuck at lock screen and after Anniversary Update on Windows 10

The first suggestion is not helpful since the problem is that we have many open programs stuck behind the lock screen.

I have run into this problem and tried the On-screen keyboard but it does not help.

An additional data point is that it does not matter what password is entered.

Enter correct password -> spinner shows up, after about 30 seconds the spinner goes away and the screen remains locked.

Enter blank password (simply hit Enter) -> same behaviour as above.

The behaviour is the same whether using physical or On-screen keyboards.

I would suggest you to follow the below steps to try resolving the issue.

Setting the timeout for Lock Screen

• Press Windows + I and select personalization.
  
• Select Lock screen.
  
  
• Select the Screen Timeout setting.
  
• Select the time of timeout you need and check.

You can use your own image of any background and just go to settings/personalize/lock screen and click on browse as in the image below. It should make whatever picture you use as the Lock Screen
