Windows 10: Stuck on the Lockscreen in Safe Mode Windows 10

My laptop got infected by the Neshta virus, I went into safe mode through start>misconfig>boot following a video tutorial on how to remove the virus. Then did a restart. But then when it was time for the password input screen to show up, it doesnt. I waited for 5 hours on front of an empty screen with that blurred background picture. The keyboards buttons still respond to changing the brightnes and stuff. So I am guessing this is a software issue but dont know for sure.



I tried to do a recovery from shift clicking the restart button, it didnt work. It says there was a problem extracting a certain package i forgot what it was.


The neshta virus deals with .exe files right? So i am expecting this lockscreen issue isnt caused by the virus. Hence i chose the lockscreen category for this question.


Any known workarounds, folks?

Stuck in safe mode in windows 10

Safe mode is intended to help fix most, if not all problems within an operating system, it's not good if we got stuck on it. To correct this, we suggest that you follow the steps below to exit out of Safe mode:

• Open Run command by pressing Windows key + R
  keys on the keyboard and type msconfig in the command box and press
  Enter.
• Under General tab, put a check on Normal Startup option.
• Reboot the system and check if the changes are effective.

Let us know if you are able to exit out of Safe mode with these steps.

Boot into Safe Mode on Windows 10  


I am stuck in Safe Mode in spite of following all the suggested steps to go back to Normal Startup - Like opening file location of msconfig.exe & running as Administrator. The computer I am trying to get out of safe mode has just been updated from Windows 7.
