  1. Stupid Windows 10 Viruses

I honestly do not believe in all this viruses and malware stuff. Unless people intentionally run something like virus.exe, I can not imagine, how they could get infected, I never did since XP and I run no AV and no firewall for years, downloaded via p2p, dealt with warez and visited porno webpages (purely for a scientific research). When someone says, I click on this link, downloaded this, run this exe and got infected, I do the same, click on the link, download it, install it and nothing happens. Sorry for bubbling, I have just got a little drunk and sometimes and I just feel like sharing my thoughts about all this security obsession in the world. Windows has got so secure since Vista, that it takes very little effort to keep it secure. *Tongue

No firewall and no AV and you haven't been infected since XP , that is mind boggling , i really have no idea how you can think that malware is not a big issue , i really don't lol.

All you got to do is a little research , you will find that malware is everywhere all the time , consider yourself the luckiest person on the planet (no joke) but i think your post is clearly a joke , it's just not believable at all .

  3. My friend actually knows about malware as much as a mouse knows about quantum physics and he has had no infections for years either without any realtime protection, so my doubts about malware stand. *Smile

You should seriously consider buying a lottery ticket or going to a casino , never heard of anybody with your kind of luck , the thing that really makes me shake my head in disbelief is no firewall since XP and not a single infection .

I don't even think that is possible , i logged on to the net for 9 seconds once and my firewall was disabled , i had a page full of Trojans , thats the part thats not believable to me . You sure you weren't dreaming my friend.

I can see how that's possible. I only use Defender and the windows firewall and I don't have any issues with Malware. But, then I use the best AV and that's the one between my ears.

I am pretty sure most people gets infected nowadays by installing any software and clicking the NEXT button without choosing "custom install" or something like that. If not viruses, at least adware/pups.

Even given that situation you or anyone has to know what they are doing and the sites they visit and software they download. Like I said.. best AV is the one between your ears.. YMMV

  9. If you understand how a firewall works, you know, that it is "useless". Firewall stealths the ports, without the firewall ports are closed, that is the same things, unless there is an app, which would keep the port open.

As for the AV, the real AV detection is bellow 50% for daily threats, so not much help at all.

Or just was lucky not to catch something dangerous or crippling. I know I'm pretty safety conscious, read everything I can about a program before installing and make sure I skip anything that is not only that program and all that jazz but still I had alarms from AVs and caught few PUPs every now and than. That's why I periodically comb with a fine comb for anything that should not belong in my system and do get few positives on PUPs and malware. As soon as I'm reasonably sure (can't ever be 100% sure), I make a full system backup.
People claiming that they newer caught any malware and do not have any AVs or other protection, can't even know that they have some malware and they may find out just when something really bad happens.

  11. Malware usually does not hide, I do internet banking and credit card payments almost daily without worries.

Unless you are connected directly to the internet you don't need a firewall at all really. All Macs are shipped with firewall disabled by default as almost all (home) users connect through a router so really there is no point... Your PC isn't exposed directly.

Adware/ pups for sure , it's mind boggling how many programs come with hidden pups etc...

I have found Eset online scanner with the (pups enabled) box checked to find all of them. Even CCleaner has a bunch , run Eset and see for yourself . CCleaner portable is free of them though but not the exe version.

I'm not talking about not being connected to the internet lol. I don't use a router so can't comment on that but when you think of being on the web your connected to the internet , i thought that was a given.

Want to see how fast you are infected , try connecting to the net with your firewall disabled , nightmare.

You need to think about where you get your programs from. That's the issue.
