Stutter/Signal Drop-outs on audio files with Windows 10 Pro.

I have an issue with stutter on audio files using Windows 10 Pro. I have a dedicated laptop which I only use to play audio via wifi to an Arcam streamer. I experience 3 to 4 second breaks in the signal during playback. These are some of the things I have tried following advice here and on the internet: resetting the laptop, using the sounds troubleshooter, changing power settings, disabling dynamic tick/HPET, making the Arcam the default speaker, and deleting and then reloading drivers - my version of Windows doesn't have the facility to change or remove audio enhancements nor to change the po

  2. Bluetooth Audio Stuttering - Microsoft Surface Pro 5 - Windows 10

Thank you very much for reaching out! As an Independent Advisor and fellow Microsoft user, I'm more than happy to assist you.

To address Bluetooth audio stuttering issues on your Windows 10 device, such as a Surface Pro 5, you can try several troubleshooting steps. Here are some effective methods.

    1. Run the Bluetooth Troubleshooter

Windows has built-in troubleshooters that can help fix common issues:

    • Press Windows logo key + I to open Settings.
    • Go to System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.
    • Click Run next to Bluetooth and follow the instructions.

    2. Update or Reinstall Bluetooth and Audio Drivers

Outdated or corrupted drivers can cause stuttering issues:

    • Open Device Manager by pressing Windows logo key + X and selecting Device Manager.
    • Expand Bluetooth and Audio inputs and outputs.
    • Right-click on your Bluetooth and audio devices, then select Update driver. Choose Search automatically for updated driver software.
    • If updating doesn't work, try uninstalling the drivers and restarting your computer to reinstall them automatically.

    3. Disable Audio Enhancements

Audio enhancements can sometimes cause issues:

    • Press Windows logo key + R, type mmsys.cpl, and press Enter.
    • Right-click your default playback device and select Properties.
    • Go to the Enhancements tab and check Disable all enhancements. Click Apply and OK.

    4. Disable Hands-free Telephony

This feature can interfere with audio quality:

    • Press Windows logo key + I to open Settings.
    • Go to Bluetooth & devices > Devices.
    • Scroll down and select More devices and printer settings.
    • Right-click your Bluetooth headset, select Properties, go to the Services tab, and uncheck Hands-free Telephony.

    5. Stop Bluetooth Support Service

Stopping this service can sometimes resolve stuttering:

    • Press Windows logo key + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
    • Find Bluetooth Support Service, right-click it, and select Stop.

    6. Check for Interference and Signal Strength

Bluetooth signals can be disrupted by other devices or physical barriers:

    • Ensure your Bluetooth device is close to your computer.
    • Disable any 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi to see if it reduces interference.
    • Remove any physical barriers between your Bluetooth device and your computer.

    7. Change Audio Formats

Incompatible audio formats can cause issues:

    • Press Win+R, type mmsys.cpl, and press Enter.
    • Right-click the default playback device, select Properties, and go to the Advanced tab.
    • Change the Default Format to 16 bit, 48000 Hz (DVD Quality) and click Apply and OK.

    8. Uninstall WIDCOMM Bluetooth

Some users have found that uninstalling WIDCOMM Bluetooth software resolves the issue:

    • Go to Settings > Apps, find WIDCOMM Bluetooth, and uninstall it.

    9. Additional Steps

    • Ensure your Bluetooth device is fully charged.
    • Disconnect and reconnect your Bluetooth device.
    • Perform an SFC scan and repair Windows Image if there are system file issues.

If none of these solutions work, you might consider performing a fresh install of Windows as a last resort. These steps should help you resolve the Bluetooth audio stuttering issue on your Surface Pro 5.

Please feel free to reach out if you require any additional assistance. I'm here to help!

  3. Audio stuttering after wake

    Hi, ShimmyW

    Welcome to the Microsoft Community.

Knowing that you have problems with your audio after waking up from sleep, you can try the following suggestions:

    1. Check for Hardware Conflicts:

    • Open Device Manager.
    • Expand the “System devices” category.
    • Look for any devices with yellow exclamation marks or error messages.
    • If you find any conflicts, try disabling or uninstalling the conflicting devices.
    2. Test with External Audio Device:

    • Connect an external audio device, such as headphones or speakers, to the computer.
    • If the audio stuttering persists, it suggests a problem with the Realtek audio device or its drivers.
    3. Disable Audio Enhancements:

    • Go to Control Panel > Sound.
    • Select the Realtek audio device as the playback device.
    • Click on the “Properties” button.
    • Go to the “Enhancements” tab.
    • Uncheck all the enhancement options.

If the above steps do not resolve the issue, contact Gigabyte support for further assistance. They may be able to provide additional troubleshooting steps or replace the audio device if necessary.

    Best Regards

Stutter/Signal Drop-outs on audio files with Windows 10 Pro.

Win 10 CU (not FCU) stutters and freezes a lot with various operations

I get momentary freezes and stuttering with a range of Windows menu operations. *sarc These are the ones that are top of mind but I'm sure there are others. Win 10 Pro 64, up to date on patches.

    • Xing out a FireFox tab
    • Click on FILE menu (drop down is delayed)
    • FILE > Print (printer list or print menu is delayed)
    • Selecting a higher level on the file path in the SAVE menu
    • Search menu at bottom of Windows
    • Typing in many situations.

Any suggestions? Or this this a known problem in Win 10? I've had this problem for some time, but lately it has gotten me really PO'ed.*Confused
