  1. Submitted file password is non-standard, please submit a file with password 'infected'

When installing a program developed by us, a SMART SCREEN from WINDOW DEFENDER appears. Since our program is free of MALWARE and VIRUS, we requested Microsoft to analyze the setup file exe of our program for malware in order to disable the SMART SCREEN. The analysis showed no MALWARE, but we received the following response. --> 'Submitted file password is non-standard, please submit a file with password 'infected' Does this mean SMART SCREEN is off? Waiting for a positive answer. Thank you.

  2. I have an MSI file which I believe is malicious. How can I submit it without it being deprioritized according to the note?

I have already tried submitting the MSI file but the analyst comment said, "Submitted file password is non-standard, please submit a file with password 'infected'". (The screen shot I took won't upload). I do not know how to put a password for a zip so if that can work for MSI files can you please tell how to do it?

    If needed:

I have Windows Defender on limited scanning as I also have another antivirus.

Sorry if this has not enough info. This my first time using Microsoft community.

    Thank you in advance.

  3. AsRock Win User
    Password to many word files....

just what i was thinking.. then you open the rar file and asks for the password for the 1st time and you can open the rest of the files without re typing the password.

Microsoft Safety Scanner > Files Infected count

There's a bit of a UX problem with the scanner. As it is running it may encounter files that are suspected of being infected but indicate a count as: "Files Infected: XX"

This suggests the files are infected and apparently no list of these potentially infected files are provided.

    1. Change the label to "Possible Infected Files"
    2. Write to the msert log the list of possibly infected files for further review/action.
I say this as I let the tool run for over 3 hours, racking up over 20 "Files Infected". My computer was disconnected from the Internet during the scan. So I was surprised that the files in question were somehow "cleared" despite a lack of Internet connection.

    From the log:

    Results Summary:

    ----------------

    No infection found.

Failed to submit MAPS report: 0x80072EE7

Failed to submit clean hearbeat MAPS report: 0x80072EE7

Microsoft Safety Scanner Finished On Sun Apr 30 13:20:56 2023

If the suspected files couldn't be submitted, then how were they cleared? Which files were suspected?

I appreciate the tool just cannot trust the results.
