    Substitution of 'Malgun Gothic' displays square boxes instead of actual character


    I tried to change the default font of Windows 10 to a custom font by substituting 'Malgun Gothic' and additional fonts like 'Gulim' and 'Dotum' etc, the default Korean fonts in Windows, with registry editing, but after restarting the computer, although the font in the file explorer, a context menu, the task bar, hint texts, and a message box etc. were completely changed to the custom font, the characters in search window and calendar in task bar, those in universal Windows applications, and those in Chromium based browser user interface changed to square boxes for Korean characters and the font of Latin characters and numbers was unchanged. If I edit registry to default again, then they display well again. What would be the causes for this problem? Is a text displaying mechanism different for those cases? Also, would there be solutions to fix this problem? Sorry for the poor English since I am Korean.

    +Actually this method do not completely changes the font. It is still unchanged in the notification center, start menu, and the lock screen etc.

    Thanks for writing.

    I found the music flat sign in Malgun Gothic as you described in your first reply.

    At this point I also tried to Copy and Paste that character but that only again resulted in two question marks.

    The Group By Unicode Subrange popup did not work yesterday for some unknown reason.

    Perhaps I had too many apps open at the same time.

    I have used it in the past but again I forgot it was a square popup.

    I do not have the TeamViewer font.

    I rechecked the video again and it is using my Private Character as a triangle in IE again.

    I have Malgun Gothic font installed in my PC already. But when I open Notepad, it doesn't display Malgun Gothic :/ I cannot read Korean texts!

    menu or submenu arrows are substituted by little squares

    Goodmorning,

    I'm facing a problem that I haven't seen again.

    Suddenly all the arrows leading to submenus are substituted by little white squares.

    For example, when I left click on desktop or the taskbar instead of (right) arrows I see squares.

    Did you have any solution about this issue?
