  1. Subtitle option is grayed out on certain video files in Windows Media Player

Recently, I was watching a video on Windows Media Player with subtitles and the subtitles suddenly didn't work anymore. Since then, the subtitle option for any video's in a specific folder on my computer is disabled grayed out, even if I download them again. With other videos it does work. How can I turn the subtitles on again for these specific files? Thanks.

    :)

Unable to add subtitle files in Windows Media Player.

    Hi,

Subtitles in media files can either be embedded or posted as a separate file. To better understand your concern about sharing media files in your homegroup, we'd like to know the following:

    • If the subtitles are embedded on the video.
    • If the video files are in a folder when you've shared it.
    • If you're using the Windows Media Player to launch the media files.

We look forward to your response.

Subtitle option is grayed out on certain video files in Windows Media Player

How play all Subtitles(.srt) files on Windows Media Player in Windows 10.

    Hi Bob,

One of the reasons why this issue occurs is a corrupted video file format. To troubleshoot your subtitle issue using .srt format, you can follow these steps:

    • Go to File Explorer, and create a new folder.
    • Move your video and .srt file to the new folder.
    • The video and the subtitle file should have the same name. For example,
      "Movie"
      and the subtitle is "Movie.srt".
    • Right-click on the video and choose "Play
      with
Windows Media Player" and check if it makes any difference.

Please post back with the result for further assistance.
