Windows 10: Subwoofer channel not available - Speaker Setup shows only "Stereo" under Audio channels

I just noticed that my subwoofer is not producing any sound at all. I've gone to Sound in Control Panel, then to Configure my speakers Altec Lansing. There, under Audio Channels, I see only "Stereo." I can click the icon for L and R and get a test sound, but clicking on the subwoofer icon produces nothing. I can't find a way to "activate" the subwoofer. I've tried updating the speaker driver but am told it's current.Ideas?Thanks.Ken

Only stereo channel available in Speaker setup

Hi, I've updated to windows 10 1803 version. I'm using a dell inspiron 5558 laptop with the latest updated realtek audio driver. I'm unable to find any audio channels other than stereo when going through the following steps. Sound-> Playback-> configure.

The quadraphonic, 5.1 and 7.1 channels aren't available in it. Also using the pre-installed dell audio manager, going through the following steps( Dell Audio-> Speaker/Headphone-> Speaker Setup) only stereo is set by default and there is no other channel
configuration available. I've a 4.1 channel system with a 3.5 mm jack but on connecting that too the channel options aren't displayed.

The bios and all drivers are updated to the latest version.

Can anyone help me figure out what is the cause of the problem?

My PC uses Realtek and it is set to Stereo. However, if in the Speaker Setup i do the test for L and R channel, i hear no sound when the L channel is tested. Only for the R channel it is ok.

I also have the impression it does not depend on the song

Outputting stereo content on a 5.1 multi-channel audio system

Yes, I have a DTS, but it only works with headphones and I can't possibly verify with a digital audio system. When my analog speakers are connected in multi-channel mode, the program writes: "DTS Audio Processing settings are not available while the computer is configured for a multi-channel endpoint"



I tried to download and try Dolby products, as well as DTS not from ASUS, where there were settings for "home theater" and I thought that there would be virtualization for an analog system. However, apparently, they only work with digital audio, because I can't even activate the "home theater" item.



If you can suggest, or anyone else who reads this message thread, what third-party program (even paid) for virtualizing stereo content in 5.1 audio can I watch? Or does Dolby have it, but I was looking in the wrong place?



In any case, thank you for your help, I will contact ASUS again with your message. I will also look for a third-party utility.
