  1. Subwoofer on 2.1 THX Desktop Speakers Not Functioning

    Hey all,

I recently bought Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 THX desktop speakers and tested them out in my living room which is hooked up to an Acer Predator Laptop. Everything works fine, the speakers and subwoofer work great and sound great. I then bring it into my bedroom where my desktop is (specs listed below), and the two speakers work perfectly fine, but the subwoofer just flat out doesn't work. It's like it doesn't exist. I have an old gen 1 iPad which I plug into the speakers, and the subwoofer comes back to life. From what I can tell, this isn't an issue with the Klipsch, but with my desktop, since the iPad and my Predator laptop (also running on the latest version of Windows) has no issue with the subwoofer.

I do some Google searches and encounter a good amount of posts regarding Windows 10 and issues with bass (although a lot of them seem to be from a few years ago). It seems like this is likely caused by driver issues from reading the issues that people have. This is my system specs:

X570 Aorus Pro Wifi (X570 AORUS PRO WIFI (rev. 1.0) Support | Motherboard - GIGABYTE U.S.A.)
    Ryzen 3600
    5700XT
    Win 10 Pro 10.0.19042 Build 19042

I've tried reinstalling the Realtek HD Audio Driver from my Mobo's site, yet that doesn't seem to do anything. I can't access any sort of bass enhancements since I can't even see the Enhancement tab. The Realtek Audio Console currently on my desktop is Gigabyte branded, and is pretty useless at configuring anything to do with bass (only thing I see are Speaker Configuration (set to Stereo), Virtual Surround Sound set to Off, and Equalizer/Environment sound effects which are currently at None. I'm thinking maybe I should try the HDA drivers, but I wanted some input before I go ahead and do that. Do you think it's a good idea to try it? Is there something else I'm overlooking as to why the subwoofers don't work? I already tried enabling/disabling audio enhancements under the Signal Enhancements section in speaker properties. Doesn't seem to have done anything.

Here's what the Powershell log outputted if you think it'll help:
Realtek Audio Driver Integration log information

    Device HWID: HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_1220&SUBSYS_1458A0C3&REV_1001

    Realtek Driver Version: 6.0.9054.1 (UAD)
    Proposed UAD driver : -
INF needed to install : hdxgigabyte.inf

    Thanks in advance!

    :)

  2. Speaker works when plugged into computer but not subwoofer

    Hi,

To further isolate your concern, we'd just like to clarify the following information:

    • Have you tried using the Subwoofer with different speakers?
    • Have you tried plugging the speakers and the Subwoofer on different laptop or PC?

Looking forward for any information that you may provide.

Speaker works when plugged into computer but not subwoofer

No I can't find another set of speakers but I have tried plugging the subwoofer+speakers into a different computer and a stereo system, both with the same results; really quiet but both functional without subwoofer but one is not working with the subwoofer.

    Desktop speaker suggestions

My current desktop speakers are being shitty and the audio's only coming out of the left speaker. Any suggestions on some good speakers to get? I have a logitech set with 5 speakers and subwoofer but I only use the front left and right ones so ideally a good sounding 2.1 set.
