Windows 10: Sudden Black Screen and Fans Running at 100% - Need Help

Hello everyone, I've been experiencing an issue with my PC for the past 2-3 months. It happens randomly and not on a regular basis. Sometimes, while gaming or running multiple programs at once, my screen suddenly goes black, and the fans start running at over 100%. I recently set them manually to 100% via software, thinking it was an overheating issue, but when the issue occurs, they go even higher than that. All the LEDs inside the PC turn off, and the only way to recover is by pressing the restart button or performing a force shutdown using the power button on the case.I recently reinsta

Black Screen, GPU Fan 100% When Playing Games

I would suggest going back to at least the October version:

- Installed Creators Update on 12-April.

- Checked/applied patches on 13-April.

- Few hours after running, saw the laptop screen was black, mouse was unresponsive, and fan was running at 100% power. Had to hard power down the whole laptop.

Once done with that, let’s check the cause for the fan speed.

a. While on the desktop, right-click on the taskbar, click on
Task Manager.

b. Click on the Processes tab and check if any processes that is running high.

If none of the process is running high then I suggest you to update the graphics card driver and check if it resolves the issue.

1. Press “Windows key + X” and click on “Device
Manager”.

2. In the list of devices, you should see the Display Drivers.

3. Right click on the device and then select "Uninstall".

4. In the uninstall dialog, make sure you select the option to delete the driver package from the system. This causes the driver package installed earlier to be deleted.

5. In the Action menu of Device manager, select “Scan for Hardware changes” option. This will cause the device driver to be reinstalled. Once the driver is installed, close all windows and restart the computer.
