  1. Sudden Booting Problem after BSOD?

    Hello,

I had my laptop open (Dell XPS 9550) and wasn't using it. I noticed the screen changed so I looked over and it had a BSOD. Since that happened, I've been unable to boot it up. I've tried running chkdsk /f c:, but it now says "The type of the file system is RAW. CHKDSK is not available for RAW drives."

I've tried running Startup Repair ("Startup Repair couldn't repair your PC") and "Go back to the previous build" ("We ran into a problem and won't be able to take you back to the previous build. Try resetting your current build instead (Troubleshoot > Reset this PC)" but that option doesn't exist for me).

There are some files that I really don't want deleted. If this problem isn't fixable, I would at least like to recover them if possible.

Can anybody give me any further steps to try?

    Thank you

    :)

  2. Sudden Problems booting

Follow the illustrated Clean Install steps in this tutorial which compiles the best possible install that will stay that way as long as you stick with the tools and methods given:

    http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wiki...

To create Windows 10 Installation Media on another PC install Media Creation Tool and follow the directions here:

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-10/m...

Insert media, boot it by powering up PC while pressing the BIOS Boot Menu Key:
    https://www.sysnative.com/forums/hardware-tutor...

If the media won't boot you may need to enter BIOS/UEFI Setup (pressing key given in chart in link above) to turn off Fast Boot or Fast Startup first.

Choose the boot device as a UEFI device if offered, then on second screen choose Install Now, then Custom Install, then at the drive selection screen delete all partitions down to Unallocated Space to get it cleanest, click Next to let it create needed partitions
and start install - this makes it foolproof.

There is always a way to boot the media and install if the hardware has not gone bad, so try following the steps and if it fails report back the exact failure behavior and any verbatim error message and we will get you through it.

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and let us know how it goes. I will keep working with you until it's resolved.

  3. Sudden Problems booting

Suddenly, on the same day, my pc would boot and shut off shortly after signing in. Then it would just turn on and load windows and shut off. Now it won't even boot.

I checked all connections to make sure everything was tight. All cables are good.

I bought a brand new 16gb usb flash drive because I think I need it for the fix.

How do I create a bootable usb drive for my windows 10 pc?

How do I find the cause of the problem and fix it?

What was the BSOD code? Can you remember it and let us know?

  6. Unless I did something else wrong, when booting into the USB and selecting the tool, I get the message "Unable to find a medium containing a live file system"

The one that I received when the problem initially happened was DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION. I've also got UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME and INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE when trying to boot since then, though.

You may have a brief explanation here: Troubleshooting stop 0x7B and stop 0xED

Long story shortening, if your disk is not failing, then a clean install will be the easiest way to deal with this issue.

For backing up the data, follow post #2 above.

  9. Thank you. I'll clean install once I know whether or not any of my files are recoverable.

I got the MiniTool software working, but it doesn't detect my SSD. Are there any other solutions for recovering?

  10. Also, if it's any help/indication of anything, running diskpart then list volume from cmd shows the SSD (475 GB) as Status: Healthy, just the file system is raw.

You need a Bootable OS. Try Windows 10 Recovery Tools, it works good. You will need another computer to download it and make a bootable USB suing it.

*** please read my next post.

    It sounds bad.

Please forget my last post. Use PW Bootable CD, try a Partition Recovery.

  15. Did UEFI this time (I was doing a legacy boot when using the USB before), the same problem occurs still. Any other thoughts?
