Sudden crashing of certain applications and sites.

For the past month or so, certain games in ROBLOX crash randomly after about 20 minutes of playtime. Another issue I've been facing is things like Discord and tabs on Chrome suddenly closing, and on Chrome I'm always met with the "Something Went Wrong!" error. I've tried updating my drivers, doing an integrity check via "sfc /scannow" in the command prompt which, by the way, came up with 0 errors, and troubleshooting necessary things. Still, I face these issues. What's weird is that it only does it with certain games on ROBLOX. I haven't figured out what ties the few specific games together.

    :)

    all games crash!

    I suggest you run rthdribl > http://www.daionet.gr.jp/~masa/archives/rthdribl_1_2.zip
Increase the window size step by step and watch your vga temps permanently.
    What happens?
If it crashes, run at stock speeds as suggested before and retry.

P.S.: When your system locks, does the display signal turn off after a time?
Stuttering sound or no sound at all when freezing?
What X1800XT model do you own exactly?

  3. Applications Crashing With Error 0xc0000005

Hi, theDeadlyTeeth. I'm sorry to hear you're having this problem, and I hope I can assist you to find a satisfactory solution.

It's commendable that you've already gone through an extensive list of troubleshooting steps. However, there are a few additional suggestions you can consider:

Update other drivers: Apart from graphics drivers, ensure that other drivers, such as chipset, network, and audio drivers, are also up to date. Outdated or incompatible drivers can sometimes cause application crashes.

Check for conflicting software: Review the list of recently installed software or updates. Some applications or updates might conflict with the functioning of other programs, leading to crashes. Try uninstalling any recently added software and see if that resolves the issue.

Disable unnecessary startup programs: Certain applications running in the background at startup could potentially interfere with other software. Try disabling unnecessary startup programs using the Task Manager or a dedicated startup management tool.

Perform a malware scan: Malware or viruses can cause system instability and application crashes. Run a thorough scan using a reliable antivirus or anti-malware program to check for any malicious software.

Test in Safe Mode: Boot your computer into Safe Mode and check if the applications still crash. Safe Mode starts Windows with minimal drivers and services, which can help identify if any third-party software or drivers are causing the problem.

Contact application support: Reach out to the support teams of the affected applications. They might be aware of specific issues or conflicts that could be causing the crashes and could provide guidance or potential solutions.

    Applications Crashing on Save As...

All of a sudden, I'm experiencing regular crashes in apps when performing a Save As... command. At first, it seemed random, but I'm now able to reproduce the problem regularly. Here are the steps:

    • Launch Paint
    • Select File > Save As...
    • Add a new subfolder via Right-click > New... > Folder
    • Open the new folder via Double-click
    • Add a new subfolder via Right-Click...

Paint goes into a coma and eventually logs an error with Event ID #1002 (Application Hang).

This is just one example I'm able to reproduce. Other crashes occur regularly in any number of Microsoft or non-Microsoft apps, all seemingly linked to file saving or navigating a File Explorer window, etc. There are other errors in the logs but I'm not
100% certain which ones are relevant, so I'll not confuse matters by discussing them yet.

This is a clean install of Windows 10 that's maybe six weeks old. I've installed quite a few apps but things seemed to be working fine until just recently. I ran memory and windows system file checks - both passed.

    Any ideas?

    Any assistance is greatly appreciated!
