Windows 10: Sudden ping spikes or "request timed out" when pinging router Wi-Fi

Hi everyone, I've been spending the entire day trying to figure this out and I just can't seem to fix it. So when I ping my router Wi-Fi with "Ping -t 192.168.2.1", I can usually ping it successfully. However, every 10-20 seconds there is a very high ping spike like 2000ms or even a "request timed out". After a second or two it continues to ping the router. It can't be the hardware, I've tried it both with a W-LAN Modul PCIe and a WLAN USB - both have the same issue. Thing is though, my laptop can ping with no problem at all. My conclusion is, that it must be a setting or somethi

random ping spikes

i get lots of random ping spikes. they dont happen all the time but maybe once evry 2 days and last hours. when i type ping (my ip) -t in cmd it says "request timed out" every time i spike. none of my other devices seem to experience this issue and i even
got a new antenna and its still there. it might be my router but i dont think so. what should i do?

 

Ping Spikes

Recently, I have discovered that I am receiving ping spikes from 200-1000 every 10 seconds or so when playing games, causing me to rubberband. However, I usually receive around 20ms in between ping spike intervals. I am using an ethernet cable that is connected
'Wi-fi Booster', which is connected to my router downstairs. I have tried multiple solutions in an attempt to fix this issue such as:

• Checking if my network adapters are outdated
• Troubleshooting my network adapters
• Changing my default DNS server to 1.1.1.1 (gives lower ping than 8.8.8.8)
• Disabling the feature where my PC would usually download updates from other computers
• Disabling OneDrive sync in Policy Group Editor

Hi Kevin AAW,
it is not ideal to use a Range Extender when the router is on another floor of the house than your PC, you will always have problems because the wi-fi signal will inevitably be attenuated or degraded due to the interposition of ceilings, floors or other
structures of the house.
The Range Extender works quite well when both the router and the PC are on the same floor of the house.To verify this, simply disconnect the Range Extender from the system and test with the PC connected directly to the router via a network cable, you will
see that ping spikes problems will disappear.
In your situation it is much better to use a pair of ethernet powerlines.
