    After closing all the programs and folders I was using, I was watching YouTube through Google Chrome, and the computer stopped when the stop code appeared on the blue screen, and I rebooted it, and the 150GB file of the external hard drive that was connected was deleted and returned to the unknown state.

    System & Reserve Files Too Large - 150gb!

    I have a laptop with approximately 463gb of space in my windows partition.

    Of that, 150gb is occupied by so-called "system & reserved" files. These files take up far more space than they used to, and as I'm beginning to run short on space it would be quite useful to be able get rid of some of these.

    I've seen several posts like this and none of the solutions I've seen have worked.

    I've run Storage Sense and the Disk Cleanup Utility. Disk Cleanup was able to free up a measly 6gb. This isn't enough.

    It isn't C:\Windows\Installer

    It's not Windows.edb

    I have no idea what is taking up so much space and would greatly appreciate some help.

    How do I get rid of some of these files?

    How I Free'd Almost 150GB From HDD


    The 3-Steps I took to Clean almost 150GB fromm my PC


    The first thing I did was to uninstall unwanted and unused programs. GBs Free'd: about 10

    The Second thing I did was empty my downloads folder. GBs Free'd: about 75

    The Third thing I did was use CCleaner Free to clean my system. GBs Free'd about 65

    And for good measures I defragmented my hard drive.



    This thread is not really a guide, but more or less a suggestion on how to do the same.

    Actually, my C: is 49.1 GB, but Settings>Storage shows that C: is 150GB. Is there a way to correct this?
