Suddenly Can't Pin Folders to Windows Explorer Jump List?

Every now and again the Windows Explorer Jump List will suddenly empty itself, which usually isn't a problem since I can just open my important folder and re-pin them to the List. I have no idea why it does this, but since it's an easy fix and none of the other Jump Lists for other programs like MS Word, Word Pad, Notepad, etc. are ever affected like this, it didn't bother me before. However, this time has been different as no matter how many times I click the Pin button in the Jump List menu, it refuses to work. The folders will be highlighted like they usually do to indicate that they've be

  2. Pinned stuff on jump lists

I quite like the jump lists. I use them on IE11, Mozilla and file explorer quite a bit. Each of these are pinned to my task bar. If I right click say IE11 I can see the jump list for frequent tasks such as private browsing, frequent sites and then I have pinned some sites. Same for file explorer where I’ve pinned some folders. Trouble is after a restart if I initially right click on one of these all my pinned things show generic icons. But it only does this on the first right click, if I do it again all is normal. And it only affects things that I have pinned and not the default actions on said jump list. Example, I right click
IE11 and all the pinned sites show as a generic white sheet of paper icon as opposed to their website fav icon. Next right click the fav icons all show. Same with file explorer, first right click pinned folders like photos, videos show as generic yellow folder icon. Next right click the normal icons show up. All then ok until I next login/boot. Strange annoyance that most people haven’t prob noticed but it irks me. I unticked jump list recent items in settings and enabled again but it made no difference. It’s hard to explain and impossible to capture a screenshot to show

    thanks

File Explorer jump list not working

Since upgrading to Windows 10, I've found that my File Explorer jump list don't work any more. The folders are still on the list, both pinned and recent, but clicking on them has no effect. I have to click the 'File Explorer' link and either use Quick Access
or navigate to my destination myself. Quick Access is handy, but the jump list - and particularly the folders I'd pinned to it - has become my preferred way to get to my most important folders, and it's frustrating that it's no longer working.

I've looked at solutions on here to similar problems, including deleting files from 'AutomaticDestinations', but that hasn't helped. No other jump lists are affected - just File Explorer.

    Thanks!

Suddenly Can't Pin Folders to Windows Explorer Jump List?

    Explorer jump list folder regression

    Hi,

Thanks for taking a look at my problem.

    1. Where is the location of this folder?

    > it's on a local hard disk, a sub-folder within "my documents", nothing too fancy

    2. What appears in the jump list files when you right click on it?

    > That's a good one Suddenly Can't Pin Folders to Windows Explorer Jump List? :) There is a list of folder there (pinned and automatically added by windows), but set aside the expected last save to one that is missing (object of the topic), the other ones are like in windows 7, the ones I use most often recently.

Unfortunately I tried un-pin/re-pin it doesn't solve the issue. I noticed the list in the start menu that opens next to "file explorer" has the same problem (it's basically the same list).

Are others experiencing this issue or is it just me ?
