Windows 10: Suddenly DVD disc drive drawer opens upon startup of Win10.

Simply DISABLE, CD-ROM Boot in BIOS Setup.This resolved the issue.

Suddenly DVD disc drive drawer opens upon startup of Win10

The drive has no DVD in it and it opens every time upon startup for no apparent reason. As I made no changes to my PC, I assume this results from a WIN10 automatic update.

I tried:

• uninstalling the DVD drive (via control panel / device drivers)
• replacing WIN10 default DVD player software with VLC
• changing autoplay to VLC - because simply changing DVD default player to VLC alone didn't stop autoplay chosing the WIN10 player.
  

..... all without success.

Any ideas on how I can stop the dvd drive door opening - without disconnecting the wiring - would be appreciated.

Method 1: Run the hardware troubleshooter
to check if that helps.

Windows has a built-in troubleshooter to check and fix issues with Hardware and Devices. I would suggest you to run this troubleshooter to check if the issue is with your Devices.

Refer these step:

1. Press Windows key +X, select Control panel.

2. Change the
view by option on the top right to Large icons.

3. Click on troubleshooting and click on the
view all option on the left panel.

4. Run the Hardware and Devices.

Method 2: To diagnose whether this issue occurs in
“Safe Mode”, let’s reboot the computer in safe mode and check if the issue appears there as well.

Safe mode is a diagnostic mode for Windows that starts your computer in a limited state. Only the basic files and drivers necessary to run Windows are started. This helps us in identifying whether the issue is due to some
third party programs conflict. The word Safe mode appear in the concern of your monitor to identify which windows mode you are using.

DVD drive drawer opens of its own accord - since WIN10 upgrade

Whenever I restart my PC from cold, the DV D drawer now opens of its own accord. It's likely to get broken as space is tight.

Within Device Manager, I've tried (i) disabling and (ii) uninstalling the DVD drive. But then whenever WIN10 restarts, it automatcalaly enables and adds the hardware - which it presumably sees as new - so the problem recurs.

I can try disabling the Services "UPNP" and disabling "SSDP Discovery" upon startup. But that seems a clumsy and, of course, I wont be able to play DVDs when I want to.

Any more practical solution would be appreciated.
