Windows 10: Suddenly have no sound via HDMI + screen flickering

I installed some new software for a CS class the other day: Docker, which also required Linux WSL subsystem; and Windows powershell. As soon as I installed these programs, my audio stopped working, which leads me to believe they some how caused this issue. I tried uninstalling Docker and it didn't help.


I have my laptop Asus N550JX plugged into my Sony tv via HDMI. I still have sound, but no audio. I have tried every solution I can find online using windows sound troubleshooter, uninstalling/reinstalling/updating drivers, booting in safe mode. I uninstalled my intel display driver and my Nvidia 950M display driver several times. I've reinstalled the sound drivers multiple times as well. I uninstalled the driver which was labelled "Sony TV", which for some reason now shows up as just "Intel Display Audio HDMI 2". The weird thing is, if I click the sound settings and play audio, the audio bars move, so the driver seems to think its playing audio but it's not. I also know there is nothing wrong with either the HDMI cord or the tv.


Interestingly, my screen has also started flickering too, usually only when I click the settings or click "display" in the settings. I'm not sure what to do as updating drivers has not helped. I've also run the windows system file checker and found no problems and Windows defender hasn't indicated any viruses.


To be clear, my sound still works from my laptop speakers just fine, the audio problem is specifically linked to the HDMI output. Thanks in advance for any help.

I haven't made any changes on my device. This screen flickering is only happening in Safe Mode.
