suddenly lost resolution settings on external monitors Win 11 Ent 23H2

Hi,I have been using 2 external monitors on my Lenovo Thinkpad and it worked very well. This morning, when I switched on the Laptop. The cable were not touched since yestarday, the two external monitors had a lower resolution. I cannot put back the correct resolution as this doesn't appear in the list of modes, neither by going to System<Display>Display resolutionnor by selecting System>Advance Settings> Display Adapter Properties>List all modes. From Lenovo System Updates I see that the following driver was installed this morning:Intel Graphics Driver - 10 1909 or later/11 21

    External monitor display settings

    Hi,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

I understand that you are facing issues with the display scaling on your external displays. We will certainly look into this for you.

As you are using Vizio TV, you may have to try using custom resolution settings if the in-built settings do not provide the required settings.

For better clarity, please let us know:

    • What is the version of Windows 10 that is currently installed on your computer? You can click on Search and type
      winver.
    • Are you aware of any recent changes to the system, such as updates, after which you are facing this issue?
    • What is the make and model of your computer?

Meanwhile, I would suggest you to check the steps mentioned in the Workaround section in

Windows scaling issues for high-DPI devices

I would also suggest you to check the Display drivers. Please refer

Let us know how it goes.

    Regards,

    External Monitor with Quicken

    Hi Mark,

It is possible that the display resolution automatically adjusts after connecting to an external monitor. For us to properly isolate this issue, we have some questions for you:

    • Are you experiencing the same issue even without using the Quicken tool?
    • Have you checked if the display resolution settings of the Surface device and the external monitor is the same?
    • Have you tried checking for a graphics device driver update?
    • What troubleshooting steps have you done to isolate the issue?

We're looking forward to your response.

Unable to output 4k resolution (potentially) after recent update.

A colleague and I have been using 4k external monitors with our windows 11 dell laptops for the last month, for which we've been able to set the correct resolution. However, at some point in the last week we've both lost the ability to set any resolution above 1080p for the external monitors.

    I've tried the following:

    • A different hdmi cable.
    • A different hdmi port.
    • Updating the graphics drivers.
    • Installing older graphics drivers.
    • Rolling back what windows 11 updates I could (very limited).
    • Resetting windows 11.
    • Reinstalling windows 11.
Does anyone have any other suggestions of things to try? Additionally, the intel graphics command center recognises that the monitor is 4k, but it can't override the windows display settings.
