Windows 10: Suddenly modern apps have no icons when pinned to taskbar on one user profile

Hi All,I have Windows 11 Pro 22H2 Build 22622.586 and Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.22634.1000.0.The PC has several user-profiles, 2 of which are regularly used.One of these has started to exhibit an issue where taskbar icons for modern apps are missing, so the taskbar just shows a gap where the modern app icon is located. Example apps are Calculator MS and Spotify. Is there a known issue related to this? I have tried the usual delete icon cache, tweak/modify taskbar settings, stop autoruns, dism etc.ThanksGeorge

Modern UI Apps all show "This PC" icon on taskbar

Whenever I open an app that is in the list of Modern UI Applications, its taskbar icon uses the This PC icon, not the correct icon for the app.

For example the two rightmost icons in this screenshot are actually open windows for Notepad and Spotify.





My Windows 11 does display the correct icon on the app window, on taskbar popup thumbnails and in the system tray. If I pin a Modern UI app to the taskbar, it shows the correct icon. BUT when I open the app, a second icon appears on the taskbar for the app's window and this second icon is, you've guessed it, the This PC icon.

I have tried the usual remedies like restarting Explorer, rebooting the PC and pinning and unpinning apps but none have cured the behaviour. Could this be a corrupted registry setting, and if so does anyone know where to find it and what the defaults are?

 

Pin Program Icon to Taskbar Permanently

By reset clearing, I meant the suggestion at the bottom of that thread.

I have done a,b,c. With safe mode new user and normal mode new user, the icon doesn't stay for any programs.
With my main account, safe mode and normal mode, icon doesn't stay for any programs, except for Chrome's icon which stays in normal mode.

 

Pinning apps on the Taskbar - for all users

Hi

I'm making an image of windows 10 and office 2016.

i want that all the users will have the same icons on the taskbar.

i copied all the shortcuts to this folder:

C:\Users\defult\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch\User Pinned\TaskBar

but when i log on with a new profile, i don't get the pinned icons...

why?
