Windows 10: Suddenly no sound when mirroring to TV

I have a Dell XPS13 (first gen), running Windows 10 with all latest updates etc. When I am mirroring my PC screen to my Samsung Smart TV, no sound goes through the TV despite audio device 'digital output' being selected. I have run through pretty much all options suggested online, including checking driver updates, to no avail.

A couple of other points:

- When mirroring the entire desktop through Chromecast, sound works fine (although this is no ideal due to terrible streaming quality)

- When streaming a movie playing on VLC to the TV, sound also works fine (but this is no ideal due to lack of subtitle support)

If anyone could suggest a potential fix, please let me know, as I think I have exhausted every option I can find.

Screen Mirroring on Win 10 to Samsung Smart Tv

Recently, I have been trying to mirror my computer screen to my Samsung Smart TV. My computer finds the device in the Connect Menu of the Notifications Tab, I've previously not seen the TV listed before, so I tried connecting them with both devices on
and running. My computer connects, formatting the screen and my TV also recognizes the connection, but both after loading for several moments, suddenly disconnect without showing a glimpse of my computer on my TV screen. I have tried repeating this multiple
times, to no avail. My TV then tells me screen mirroring has ended. My TV is updated to the newest update-so that wouldn't be the issue.

Try this.

I suggest you follow the steps below and check if it helps.

• Open Action Centre.
• Click on Connect.
• PC will search and show which devices are available to mirror/cast.
• Click on the device which you would like to mirror/cast.

Mirroring function

Just to make sure that this issue doesn't only occur on your particular PC, have you tried mirroring a different PC to the same TV? Did the same issue occur?

Have you also tried mirroring on the same PC before? Did it work successfully? If yes, what were the recent changes made before mirroring failed to work?

To make sure that you got the right steps in projecting a wireless display with Miracast, you may check these steps:

• Turn ON the Miracast option if your TV comes with built-in Miracast support.
• Press the Windows + I keys to go to
  Settings.
• Click Devices, then Connected Devices.
• Click on "Add a Device" and wait for the adapter to appear in the list. Click on the receiving adapter.
