Windows 10: Suggestions for half-height PCIe combo card for older laptop?

Hi all...was trying to get an older Win7-era laptop's wifi card working. It's an older Atheros card with wifi and Bluetooth but no matter what I try or what drivers I've tried. I can't get THE BLUETOOTH part (the wifi works fine) to work under Win10. She needs BT for her wireless headphones.

Anybody have suggestions for a wifi/Bluetooth PCIe half-height combo that should just be plug and play on Win10 that I can replace her older card with...?

Reliable plug-and-play Mini PCIE WiFi card for laptops?

Hi all - I own 2 older Acer laptops with Broadcom WiFi cards that all have issues with WiFi randomly disconnecting, or NOT automatically reconnecting upon wake-from-sleep or on boot. I've seen several family member's laptops with the same issue...also with older Broadcom cards.

The only way to fix the random disconnections when they happen is by running the WiFi troubleshooter, disabling and re-enabling the WiFi adapter, or sometimes restarting the whole machine. I've tried every single driver I can find, and tried various suggestions for settings changes (turning off 'allow Windows to turn this device off to save power', for example) and they all still do this. They are all older laptops (Win7 or Win8-era) that have been upgraded to Win10.

So....to work around this as it's driving me crazy, are there any suggestions for a good plug-and-play Mini PCIE WiFi card I could put into those laptops that isn't going to break the bank? Hopefully replacing the card with one with a completely different chipset would do the trick?

Any decent Realtek/Ralink/Intel/Atheros Mini PCIE cards out there that could solve the issue? Thanks for any suggestions!

They are all PCIe - i.e. one notch, and are all half-height.

 

Using a memory card in half height slot causes crash

After installing 1903 on my Lenovo windows 10 pro laptop, inserting a micro sd card with adapter or booting up same in my half height memory card slot causes a continual crash and reboot. The sd cards do not cause this when used with the 2 usb plug in
adapter ports. When installing 1903 I did have a card in the slot and received an error message telling me to remove the card. I did that and then the installation proceeded to completion. I reverted back to 1803, 1809 never would install, and the problem
went away. I checked the USB drivers with 1903 and 1803 and they were all updated. When I do a device eject to remove the card it is referred to as an SDXC SCSI disk device. I reinstalled 1903 and the crash issue returned. I like using this slot with a
half height micro usb card for extra storage. Am I stuck with 1803 or might there be a driver update or rollback that would solve this issue.
