Windows 10: Super slow wifi speed and also big lag spikes

Hello. I have a 1 gigabit wifi speed plan, and my computer only pulls 30-50mbps while my other devices phone, ipad pull up to 600mbps. I'm unsure of why this is happening and it's causing updates to take forever. Adding on to that, I also can get lag spikes ranging from 100ping-20,000ping. These occur at random and it's causing me great distress. Can anyone help? WINDOWS 10

Hi there,

I've been having this issue for several months now where my usually stable 20ms WiFi connection will spike to over 3000ms. I've narrowed it down to the WLan Autoconfig. Whenever the autoconfig scans for changes to the network the spike occurs, this can
be replicated on demand by clicking the WiFi symbol on the taskbar.

I was wondering if anyone has experienced this before or knows of a fix? I'm managed to stop the spikes by disabling the wlan autoconfig feature but then my connection speed gradually slows over time and is only resolved when I turn wlan autoconfig back
on for a minute to reconnect properly.

Neither of these options are fun.

Any help or advice is appreciated

For reference,

multiple usb wifi adaptors tested

tested on sky q hub and mobile hotspot

updated all drivers and bios

Windows up to date

Windows reset

All of these have had no effect.

The next step would probably be a clean install but I'm just checking here first if there's any other ideas

 

Ethernet lag spikes

To 'lag' means to become slow, and to 'spike' means to sharply increase, so I can't imagine what a 'lag spike' is.

I can say that speech sent over the internet is compressed at the sender's end to speed the transmission and uncompressed at the receiver's end, and this can sometimes interfere with the fluidness of the conversation. (Other times it makes voices sound like Alvin and the Chipmunks.)

In addition, the internet gets congested sometimes, and Discord servers can also get congested, both being due to the volume of the traffic they have to process.

In all these cases, there's unfortunately nothing that you can do, because it's not within your ability to control.

 

Super slow internet over wifi connection - issue unknown

My HP Stream 13 has Windows 10 and has a super slow internet over wifi connections. 0.15 Mbps download speed / 0.38 upload speed. My wife's Lenovo laptop gets 39.42 Mbps download speed and 10.25 upload speed from the same location on the same wifi connection.
I can confirm this is not an antivirus issue. It is not a malware issue either. I've reset the entire computer and the speed doesn't change. I've confirmed my wireless adapter's driver is up to date and accurate. I've made sure that there are no issues with
the power management settings. Nothing has worked. Any suggestions?
